Which H&A game do you most want to win?

Which home and away game do you most want to win this year?

I voted for Round 1 in Brisbane, because I believe that winning at the Gabba would ignite a confidence in these players not seen since the middle of '01.

It is plain and simple really - Brisbane at the Gabba is now the standard by which every club is judged.

Yep, round 1. Brisbane aren't the most hated team, but a win up there means we can beat anyone anywhere. Everything else is theoretically easier.

The best thign is, under Sheedy, Essendon always start the H&A season with a bang with the exceptions of 1992, and 1981. We are always ready to go at round 1. We are better chance of winning at the Gabba in round 1 than we woud be in any other round.

Seeing as we have no chance up there I would say Brizzie, I`m just hoping we keep the scores respectable. I voted for Anzac Day, because we owe them for last years debacle. We were awful that day

Would love to win all those games, but the one I'd rather most win is Brisbane in Round 1. Would get us off to a great start for the season.
Not far behind would be Collingwood on ANZAC day.

It was a toss-up between Round 1 and Round 5, but I went for Round 5 because beating Collingwood is always good and the Anzac Day match is one I actually get to go to.

It's got to be round 1 v the Lions. If we can win that, then everything else (barring injuries) will fall into place. That is now becoming the hardest road trip, especially early in the season when it's still hot, and they will, obviously (I like to state the obvious ), still be the one's to beat - at least at the start, anyway.

Getting off to a good start for the Bombers is vital. If we can win or at the very least have a good competitive game (see v WCE '93) and take them to the limit all day, then who knows what the season may bring. If we get hammered, well, it's not the end of the world, but it could get tough from then on.

Have to go back a long way. The last time Essendon lost a round 1 match by more than 17 points was in 1971! That was even before Johnny started going to the football! Wins in Sheedy's time are in bold

1999 - We convincingly defeated Carlton
1998 - We narrowly lost to Richmond
1997 - We just defeated Carlton
1996 - We easily beat Richmond
1995 - We annihilated Fitzroy
1994 - We just beat West Coast
1993 - We narrowly lost to West Coast in Perth
1992 - We were narrowly beaten by St.Kilda
1991 - We just beat Richmond
1990 - We thrashed Fitzroy
1989 - We defeated West Coast in Perth
1988 - We thrashed the Kangaroos
1987 - We thrashed Footscray
1986 - We thrashed Collingwood
1985 - We just defeated Richmond
1984 - We easily defeated St.Kilda
1983 - We lost to Sydney by one point
1982 - we defeated Footscary by 109 points
1981 - we just lost to Geelong by 6 points

So, under Sheedy, we have never been thrashed in a round 1 game and are 17-5 in round one games, with the 5 losses being by 13, 14, 13, 1 and 6 points!

We are always ready to go when the season starts!

Amazingly only 1 person voted for a round 16 victory against Brisbane down here.
