Re: Which Rookie Will Be Elivated?

More than likely nahas. Don't think silvestor will be elevated due to the fact we already have a lot of options like moore, thursfield, mcguane and rance who can play his spot.

I haven't seen any of browne but apparantly he played well against the saints? We are in desperate need of a second ruckman, but according to wallace, graham seems to have that position sewn up at the moment.

Which leaves nahas, we need a small quick forward who can pressure the opposition. We need more forward pressure full stop and hopefully he can deliver the goods. Personally I dont think we need to elevate any of these 3 atm as none of them have really proven themselves. But id expect Nahas to be elevated before round 1.

Nahas.
Fills a need, Browne isn't AFL ready but has potential and Sylvester isn't needed

Okay ... i'll bite!!! Yes, Nahas is lively and looks to apply a certain degree of tackling pressure etc.
But, in the two NAB Cup games, can anyone nominate instances when his spoiling attempts were effective, that is free kicks for tackles laid, or those which caused turnovers, spoils, smothers etc.?
How many of these resulted in goals?
To me, he looked a long way off the pace!!!
Yes, he chased and harrassed but the ball seemed to clear from our forward line with regularity.
He is at best mediocre overhead and didn't exactly win what you would even call a reasonable amount of the ball.
It's only early and all the best to the kid - hope he makes it - but I wouldn't be promoting him from the rookie list on what I've seen.
A forward doesn't need to be "small" to apply pressure!!!
If they are only being elevated til round three anyway ... why bother??? None of them will or should play rounds 1 through 3.

Why not? Gives us another option if we get an early injury.

Re: Which Rookie Will Be Elivated?

nahas is the begining to look like the richie tambling of the rookie list, big hype but show nothing. browne should be given the nod.

Simple .... too many other guys ahead of any of them to consider selecting them.
Guys like Polo, Thomson, Connors, Edwards, Rance are no certainties to play in round one - actually a good chance - the majority will miss.
There's enough options there to consider, along with a bunch of guys who were drafted ahead of nahas and co in the draft proper!!!

not that simple.........if we lose a ruckman yer brown will probably be elevated......if we lose a small they wont look straight to nahas plenty of other players 2 fill that role....same with silvester if mcguane breaks his leg in round 10 doesnt mean there gonna do a backflip and elevate sylvester and there is no replacement for matthew richardson mate

nahas is nothing like tambling tamblings more of a midfielder/half back flanker nahas is more of a stephen milne or lindsay thomas type player..........and what do you mean hype if there was any hype about nahas why did he get picked in the rookie draft??

if they wanted someone like that they would have got wade thomson, he dont chase, he is flashy and they chase him because he has the ball, not chihauhau that makes token chasing.

just a idea since they took a full strengh squad to qld they took browne no one else could be flavour of the month?

Re: Which Rookie Will Be Elivated?

I voted for Browne.

Too many people are willing to take the quick fix solution eg Nahas and his supposed ability to apply pressure in the forward line. I believe we need deeper thinking and Browne appears closer to be our back up ruckman than Graham ATM .... not saying the club agrees with me but what I saw of Browne last week put a smile on my face as he beatSt. Kilda's rucks hands down.

Need to promote him and put game time into him.

Browne (after tonight's performance against Brisbane from several blogs i've read). He's been the most impressive from the three canditates!
