Sorry if this thread has already been made but as an outsider I don't know much about Adelaide's youngsters and up and comers. I know that Richard Douglas is set to improve big time but who else can I rely on in DT at a cheap price?

Thanks

9 posts on the Adelaide board about youngsters and Michael Doughty hasn't been mentioned yet.

We're getting slow people!

as you said, douglas would be your best bet. vince should be pretty cheap but i'll be buying douglas & symes for my DT this year i think. symes played minimal games for port last year so i think his price will be quite low. i'm also interested to see what biglands price is, he may be worth buying as a benched ruckman

out of our newest draftees, your best bet would be with jarrhan jacky who has apparantly been tearing up the track and is a super quick small forward who we DESPERATELY need.. he would be your safest bet out of the new draftees to get some games.

as previously stated symes will be cheap as chips in dreamteam due to him getting limited gametime last year.. the kid is a BALL MAGNET, think he reached prices of around 350,000 the previous year when he got a full season in.

others - richard douglas to have a breakout year. some smokeys would be david mckay who is a youngster injured all last year showing huge priomise and bernie vince who many think will be his breakout years.

tall forwards take longer to develop but if u wanted to go down that path youd go for kurt tippett and james sellar in that order, who should both get game time in our ugly forward line in 08, being their second year on our list

Being serious; this is my tip for a break out year. :thumbsu:

how many games would you expect kurt tippett to get next year?
with hentschel injured and welsh gone he should get a reasonable shot?

I'm big on Van Berlo 4 dream team next year, i reckon he'll take the next step and could be a semi cheap 90 plus player next year, average around 25 disposals a game

I'm interested to know what the Adelaide supporters think of that though..... is this a good chance of happening?

More than a good chance its a shoe in to happen.

his price hovered around the 200-250k mark for most of last season and if you can pick him up for that price then he's a pretty safe bet. i think i might pick him up for my team next season.

i'm thinking of trying my tactic i used for last season again next year. starting with mostly cheaper, younger players with potential and leaving a wad of money in the bank to spend throughout the year. it worked wonders last season :thumbsu:

IMO Chris Knights will become one of the top 3 under 22 aged midfielders in the competition. Unfortunately I think the wolves will come calling and we will lose him, a premier young midfielder, for peanuts at the end of 2008. Maric, VB, Douglas and porp will be our other big improvers.

Nice positive outlook there. :thumbsu:

Don't get me wrong Che, I would love him to be a Crow for life but we do have a reputation.

Hmm... we've certainly been burned, but i think that has more to do with the tools we've sometimes drafted.

I rate Knights as a bloke of quality, and dont think he'll screw the club. I dont think he'd leave, but if he did choose to, i believe hed ensure we were well compensated.

His twin is over here now, and the two are thick as theives, so I really doubt he will be going anywhere

Most guys we lost was over either game time or they were knobs

Not any more, I was under the impression he got a job in the Northern Territory and this would allow him to gain the necessary hours as a pilot and now he can complete his pilots licence?

But I don’t expect CK to leave any time soon (he may not finishing his career in Adelaide) but he will give us 150 games.

Richie Douglas will have a smashing year imo.. All reports from the pre season he is gonna have one hell of a year if he avoids injury. NC has said that he is one of - if not the - fittest in the club. I would be, and i know Richard would be, extremely disappointed if he didnt play at least 15 games.

But saying that he is extremely loyal and has said that the only way he would leave the crows is if they delisted him.. Most of his family follow the crows now too so good news there :)

Douglas will be around the mark. The word is that Jericho will get his chance on the wing.

That's his best position IMO. Athletic and needs his space.

Watch out for Moran as well, transformation in progress. Good kick, supplements CHF well.

Gill has gotta get his kick right or he may well find himself on the outer with splinters.
