ill share my spider story

well when we lived in a unit in manly (on the coast) we don't get many spiders. we've seen the odd tiny ones (that shit me to tears - im so scared) and dad kills them in like 2 seconds, me and mum are scared as.

so then my dad goes overseas for a holiday and those little ****ers come out, and those i can deal with cause you know their... killable. soo one day i go into my room and im walking and i literally step over this huge spider with a yellow stripe down its back (i dont know i dont care if its poisonous, but it was so scary) and it was looking at me like sup, im going to bite you. but i didnt actually see it and then when i leave i see it and i scream and its like still their like freaking me out and its flaunting its yellow stripe and walking and it was like horror movie style.

so i shouted at my mum and she sprayed it a kazillion times with mortein and it crumbled into a ball and its yellow stripe went black and i laughed.
while running away. its scary even when its dead.

and then this other time when dad was away their was a mutant spider (not sure about the species) with like, 6 legs. it was on the wall and just chillin whilst i tried to commit suicide 30985023 times over.

its so scary.

God damnit... I watched this one last night and struggled to get to sleep as I'm staying at Mums house so I only have the couch (too small) or the floor to sleep on. Thought I'd share with the rest of you :)

Awesome video none the less. Definitely need sound. Enjoy!!

That scared the shit out of me, music gives it a nice creepy feeling :(.

That is how my whitetail bite started....

days later i had a hole in my arm (from the scalpel, not the infection)

good luck!

Eventually got some cream for it, it cleared up within a day or 2. Phew!

That Funnelweb vid is amazing. No way do i want to come across one of those things.

When i was seeing the doc about my bite, he was telling me he has a patient that got bitten by a Funnelweb 7 years ago on the ankle and to this day still gets huge blisters around the area he was bitten. Scary.

I was minding my own business last night, watching Total Recall on dvd (awesome movie :D :thumbsu:), out of nowhere i heard this small noise (something falling/landing on the carpet) - you can create it yourself by dropping something like a pen lid... or even a coin on the carpet :p.

Turn the light on trying to find the source of the noise, 99% sure it was caused by the WHITE TAIL SPIDER on the ground :eek::eek:. Nearly shrieked like a girl, partly because i was surprised i didn't stand on it while moving towards the light switch.

It's the largest one i've seen for some time, while it's not grown like a 20-50c coin, i'd say that with the legs fully stretched out it would measure up to be as big as that.

The thing that creeps me out is that i hear similar noises in my bedroom (lately it's only been once/twice a month), leading me to think that i probably have a crapload of spiders hiding in there (despite it being spotless and very clean). I keep getting told that nothing could make THAT noise.... after last night i have my doubts and i'll be keeping a watchful eye.

I have, only had a minor reaction, a bit of itching around the bite.

Went to the doctor, apparently reactions vary from a whitetail bite which i was surprised to hear

I had a spider problem recently. I woke up in the middle of the night and went into the kitchen to get a drink of water. When i turned the light on. i jumped as i saw a huntsman spider the size of my hand on my floor staring up at me. I quickly grabbed a empty plastic bottle out of the bin nearby and clobbered it. MY wife heard the commotion and came out of the bedroom to see a squashed blemish on the kitchen floor. She then picked up what was left of the spider and threw it in the bin. The next night i went into the kitchen i came across hundreds of baby huntsman spiders. I aint got a clue where they came from but i sprayed the kitchen for 2 days before i finally got rid of the problem.

Have elected to share the house with a large-ish huntsman and put up with its disconcerting night wanderings in the hope that it'll take care of any white-tails that might be lurking. The bastards often creep into the house in warm weather.

I've had a few white tail spiders in my house, the most recent been last night and it was only discovered accidentally when my missus cleaned up the kids play area and it hiding underneath some toys. Eeeeek.

I generally don't kill any spiders unless it's the last resort or the only option. I capture them and put em outside.

Also I'm happy to have an endless supply of Daddy long legs at Home guarding me - More Daddy Long legs = Less white tails I have noticed.

Spiders kill mosquitos and annoying flies during summer.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend

Living in a new house, the other week when it was +40`C i counted 79 outside along the side fence. Also noticed the roof tiles are covered in fresh cobwebs. Funnel Webs. They couldn't hide up inside the capping that day.

There are never any flies or mozzies here because of it.

I leave them alone, and they leave me alone.

Why would you kill a spider, if not simply out of fear?

Just scoop it up and take it outside, preferably somewhere it can nest.
