Pretty hard to seperate. Simmonds is more versatile (can go forward) but I think White is possibly a better ruckman

I'd go for Simmonds simply because he's younger and got more years left in him.

Think youll find both voters here, and the AA selecters will sway towards the succesful club (for the year), and sway away from the club who doesnt even make the eight. Its pretty hard to dismiss that from your subconscience, its like comparing 2 players after a game. The player from the team that won will always emerge as the 'winner' unless there was a huge gap between the 2. As for picking one of these 2, you could probably give it to White anyway. I love Simmonds work around the ground - it is superb - and he is also very clever in the hitouts, and knows when to actually take it out of the ruck. White however, has been around for a while and proved himself for longer. White deserves this AA selection for improving his game and carrying Melbourne to the finals.

A great unbiased view there, if only there was more of this on BigFooty.

I think White has been great for many years for us and to recover from the facial injury he had and come and play like he has this season is nothing short of terrific. However, Simmonds does the one thing that White hasnt been able to do much of, kick goals and so Simmonds should get the nod for AA selection. Both very good players.

Yeah I too agree that Simmonds is ahead of White in AA calculations for this year. Has been absolutely sensational around the ground and up forward. He has always had the potential and it is good to see him fulfilling it. However there is a chance neither of these two will make the AA side this year. IMO Lade has been the number 1 ruckman this year. Although beaten by both White and Simmonds he has been great in all other matches this year and is really good with directing his taps and has a good combination going with Shaun Burgoyne. Providing the AA selectors decide to go with 2 ruckmen as they should, 2nd place is still a battle between White, Simmonds and Cox. Cox was brilliant before his injury and if he is able to play a good last month he to should come into calculations. Having said that I think Simmonds will get the Bench position.

Simmonds has been better this year, probably over the last couple of years actually. But over their careers, White easily better.

He's still in AA contention so I hear.
