Who is the most unique player in the AFL?

In seriousness Trent Mckenzie has an amazingly unique combination of height, speed and obviously his cannon.

I'm going to make the mistake of answering this seriously.

GAJ is like every other midfielder in the comp, only he does it better. Buddy is like an older, slower Jeremy Cameron.

The only unique player in the comp is Jeremy Howe ... yeah, I dont want him in my side, either, but he is absolutely unique right now, as a high marking forward who takes the impossible grab most weeks.

You're doing your boy a disservice there, Cameron is a strong overhead mark, something Buddy has never been. He might not have the pure athleticism or the showboatiness, but as a pure forward I rate Cameron higher (and with a bit of distance) than Buddy.

As for unique players Nic Nat when on song is nigh on impossible to stop in a way nobody else can match. Majak has shown glimpses of the same kind of qualities but has a long, long way to go.

Kind of from leftfield and very much a North thing, but Boomer is quite unique. He's very small, but he's no will o the wisp type, in fact he's built like a brick shithouse, but at the same time, he's got remarkable longevity. In fact, I'm pretty confident he'll play 400 games, which while not making him unique in the truly correct sense of the word, certainly puts him in a very small bracket of players (if he gets there).

Yeah nah, he's just a blonde Luke McDonald.

No hes a proven AFL player (also has 4cm on McDonald). Which McDonald is not. Cool your jets.

I'm not slagging McKenzie by any stretch of the imagination, he's a very good player and I'd love him at North, I'm just saying he's not unique in the way a Nic Nat or a Sandilands is. He's just got a good mix of size and a great boot.

In terms of past players, and this is probably predictable from me, but Carey was utterly unique in that I cannot think of any other player who managed to mix his combination of size, power and raw aggression with truly silky, even delicate, pure skill.

This is what him so special. He had the skills of a truly elite midfielder, like top 5 in the comp, in the body and mindset of an absolute beast power forward.

I didnt say he was the most unique but he is certainly has unique set of attributes. Name me another player at 192cm with his elite speed and 70 metre kick.

Does anyone else here realise that "unique" is an absolute word, and hence it is wrong to call someone "more unique" or "very unique"?

If someone is unique then they are one of a kind. Even if out of the 7 billion people on this planet there are only two of a certain type, they are not unique.

You're the one who suggested him so I'm asking you to state your case. He could do the extraordinary but he could also disappear for long periods. That doesn't make him unique however. What to you made him unique?

Nothing orthodox about the way he plays. He can do the unbelievable one minute and make a complete arse of himself the next. Never a dull moment with brennan. Can you think of another player like him?

Ah I see. I'll grant you in that regard he was quite unique, although by that description, the name Travis Cloke springs to mind. :D

This is literally the most pedantic thing ever written...

Football Talent: Gary Ablett Jnr.
That "special" someone: Warwick Capper
That special someone from today: Buddy
Athleticism: Nic Nat
Longevity: Dustin Fletcher
