Dawes from Beams & Sidebottom.

From elsewhere, I watched Natanui closely in the finals and he is about to rip the comp apart if he can get his fitness up to actually play out a game. He was awesome early against Collingwood but he ran out of steam too quickly. Same v Geelong.

Jack and Reid. Maybe Rohan.

]Reading through this thread just confirms that the word "elite" is thrown around way to often on BF. Some of you people are predicting that half of your starting 18 are going to be elite? Seriously, get your hands off of it.[/B]

There are barely 15 players who should be considered absolutely elite in the competition.

Ablett Jnr
Swan
Goddard
etc...

These guys are elite. Most of the players listed in here have done nothing yet to prove that they will even be good enough to clean these guys boots.

Stop policing how people use the word elite mate

In all seriousness you're right and it's a major bugbear of mine, but it IS BF afterall...

Bookmark it or write it down somewhere. It maybe early to call but if that kid lives up to expectation you'll be hearing the name Witts an awful lot.

My speculator though is Fasolo. If his form in the few games he played in his first season are anything to go by then I'd be inclined to think another year or two will see him close to Didak for freakish ability and possibly ahead for general field play. I haven't seen too many players walk into a reigning premiership side and play with unearned arrogance the way he did in his limited game time. If that arrogance doesn't get knocked out of him then it will be because he's earned the right. Absolutely acknowledge it's far from scientific and no certainty but very worthy of an each way bet IMO.

Sidebottom for us. A proper, good ol' fashioned footballer. 2011 wasn't a stellar year but it was a learning year from which he'll emerge a better player.

From other clubs I'd give my right arm to get McKenzie from GC. Seems like a good kid and players who can kick like that are priceless and can win you matches.

dont wanna derail this thread (actually, I wouldn't really care all that much if it happened), but on Sidebottom, who is one of my fave non-Cats players; where to Pies fans think he will ultimately serve his team best ?
I can see him as a Daicos-type in coming years, a canny goal-kicker who can have a run in the middle when required (and yes I realise Daicos started his career as a centreman and shuffled up to a forward pocket later in his career) ..

Hamish Hartlett and John Butcher.

The only two currently on our list that I think could one day be seen as the best in the league at their position (or at least right up there in the discussion).

Looks like my own clubs supporters are guilty of it too.

Honestly, the term "Elite" should be used IMO, for those who are in the Top 3 of their position in the league.

It's bandied about way too easily, sure the guys above may all develop into very good long term players but I could only see the first 4 fitting the criteria I outlined.

Silvagni I'd offer up as a champ in waiting.

Musn't be very clear then aye

3.a group of persons exercising the major share of authority or influence within a larger group: the power elite of a major political party.

As you can see, it's pretty clear. So either people in this thread struggle with the proper use of basic English words, or they're delusional. Seeing as this is BigFooty, I'm going with all of the above.

Phil Davis and Jack Gunston...

Oh wait. **** :(

Okay, Brad Symes then. :D

In all seriousness, maybe David Mackay. Has more class than just about the rest of the side put together. If he can have an injury free year for once, he will rapidly start to get recognised.

Reid and Rohan are probably the only 2 with the potential to be truly elite (i.e top 15 players in the game elite)

Using the broader term elite (which is probably more A grade star player then elite)alot of people of people in here are using then Mumford, Kennedy and Jack should probably get there.

Griffen. Not quite there yet. Needs a full season with good consistency. Was close this year but dropped off late in the season.

Of the really young players I'd say Liberatore has the makings of an elite inside midfielder similar to a Sam Mitchell with a little bit better disposal by foot and a bit more dangerous around goals.

Jurys out on the rest of the players. Higgins a slight chance if he could get his act together/body holds up.
