Read this is another thread somewhere and thought i would get it started.

Now dont move it to another thread. It will be interesting to see what everyone says.

The reason i want him is pure and simple we need a quick, skillful, pacey midfielder who can go all day. Yeah i know he has had groin problems but he will have surgery and be better than ever in the year 2008

Tell me people your thoughts on why you do/dont want judd at Essendon?

You'd have 2 be crazy not 2 want him

We lacked class in our midfield this year. Signing Chris Judd will obviously boost it by his quality, but the Dysons, Remierseseseses, Hislops will all benefit from watching him play and train. Judd will be instrumental in our next premiership tilt if we sign him.

Plus:
  1. Will greatly improve our chances of immediate success if fit.
  2. His presence could help the development of our young midfield.
  3. Marketability.
Minus:
  1. The loss of the talent potentially severely weakening our future spine
  2. Judd's injury cloud
  3. Loss of more talent due to the salary cap in a few years.

IMO I dont want Chris at Essendon. We all know he is a champion footballer but the side will rely on him to do all the work in the midfield cos we have the most laziest onballers in the League!

Did you actually watch our kids this year? I'd hardly call them the 'most laziest'. Racking up all those stats week in, week out - and leading the stats too - might not always indicate playing well, but it certainly says they're not lazy.

Judd would be a terrific influence on the young ones.

I mean hell. He's Judd. Enough said.

I have ummed and arrred about this but i have finally made my decision.......

GET JUDD!!!!!!!!

If we have a WA boy that is homesick and volunteers to go, then use him, yes even if it is Gumby, Ryder ( Please don't let it be ) or Jetta.

Assuming they are all happy then try and do the deal some other way, If we can't then we let him go.

He also needs to choose us, another stepping stone

This is why i want him.

Future captain and INSTANT Leader in a team now short of Leaders.

It will be a coup for what ever club lands him.We can put ourselves back on the map as the club that Judd wanted to come to.
Sponsers will be falling over themselves to jump on board as will members and fans as they pile through the gates to see Juddy!!!

He will bring other players into the game and have a positive influence on those almost ready to become good footballers.

With a good run with injuries and possibly another trade, we could push for top 4 next year

Top class delivery to our forwards and also a player that will bypass them and kick the goals himself.

Haha merv i reckon I've gone through the same cycle as you on whether or not to get him. I'm for it now. Anyone is up for trade in my books apart from Gumby, Ryder, Lucas, Lloyd and Fletch. We are never going to really regret losing players like McPhee, Hille, Lovett, even Monfries if we pick up JUdd. The only players we could really regret are Ryder and Gumby and a couple of the kids we pick up last year.

Lets just hope the clubs culture makes up for the fact we play at the dome.

I'm definately all for it and even leaning closer to the 'day a ridiculous' trade by the day.

Look at our forward line: Lloyd, Lucas (two AA quality forwards and out and out match winners right there), Davey, Welsh, Neagle, Jetta and plenty of quicks who can chip in for goals.

Watson, Stanton, Winderlich, 3 young midfielders who are will definately be above average. Hopefully JJ can step back up.

Ryder, Gumbleton, Bradley (depending who's here :p) Nash, Dempsey, Reimers, Hislop, Houli, Monfries, Slattery who can all step up and be solid contributors, there will be no weak links there.

Imagine if Laycock takes the next step and becomes a consistently good ruckman, another bonus there.

Welsh, McPhee and NLM are all good middle-tier players, we need more but the youngsters will turn into them.

Hidy just needs to be at the meeting sprouting stuff like, It'll be an honour for you to come to Windy Hill and wear my number 5 ect ect

Until he recovers from going under the knife KEEP well away from him, a lot for very little could be the outcome, smart people will wait, unless they have nothing to lose.

Apart from the fact that he's the best player in the league we clearly lack what he is the best at - premium top shelf midfield class.

Marketing and membership would go through the roof. I'd say we'd hit 40K+ next year if Judd was on board.

I see only two untouchables in all of this and it's Gumbleton and Ryder.

Dempsey and Davey are almost untouchable.

Pick 6, Pick 23, Hille, Laycock, Watson, Monfries, McPhee, Lovett, Jetta, Welsh, and any others should be used .

Heck if we need to trump someone than I'd offer up Pick 6 + any two of the above.

Iam on record for not wanting the judd trade if it costs us Ryder or Gumbleton.

I also respect the previous posters' points; for and against. The unforunate thing in forumland is that we dream or imagine the best or worst.

The best is pick 6 and three/four way trades that leave Essendonians (Lucas Etc) safe and also ryder and gumbleton in that future catagory.

The worst is having to face facts that our mid field sucks. Any preimiershipship side that you can recall in the last ten years has had serious talent in the mid field.

We dont have it.

KKP are important but we have them now and also in the future if we can keep ryder and Gumbleton.

We need to have our cake and eat it too.
