Didn't even search it, just scrolling through some of the early posts of bigfooty's infancy and stumbled across it lolI don't hate him, I'm tired of him. You know exactly what he's going to say before he says it.
He's patronising to Indigenous players. It's not all 'special skills, oh he's a special player, you've got to admire those skills.' There's room for Byron Pickett too.
Speaking of bumps, good one, well done on using the search feature. 21 years old, that must be a record.
Agree, he’s certainly much better at footy & racing than tennis or cricket....Sometimes blokes just try to take on too many sports.I've always liked Bruce, superb operator and brings genuine excitement whether it be football/horse racing or atheltics, knows his stuff too.
“Toss back in”What is the phrase you are looking for??
KB - legend, best in the business??
The McEvaneys are good family friends with my brother and his family and I was told he didn't want to do the cricket at all, but was told he had to do it, or whatever.Agree, he’s certainly much better at footy & racing than tennis or cricket....Sometimes blokes just try to take on too many sports.
To be honest, I don't want him making non-fence-sitting calls or any calls other than what's happening on the field. He's not an 'expert' commentator, and God knows there's more than enough of those on every broadcast, he's just a commentator. Just call the action Bruce, we don't want to know what you feel. Or retire.Pretty obvious why Bruce is awful to listen to.
******* rhetorical questions.
This article explains current commentating pretty well:

Bruce asked 55 rhetorical questions in one game
Before I begin, can I preface this by saying that I adore Bruce McAvaney’s passion for the game. And I’m not trying to ether him out of existence here.www.news.com.au
Bruce is a South Aussie & it has always been a checkside in SA.i blame him for bringing that mullet-headed term, checkside, into the vernacular.
It's a bloody banana you clown!
was never a fan of him.
should have stuck to rhythmic gymnastics or the like.
When you look at Bruce as a whole package he is undeniably good.
But my main gripe with him has always been his fanboy tendencies. It doesn't do him, or the player he is fawning over, any favours as it often incites the listener to not like that player just because.
When a person Bruce loves does the simplest thing it's just "so clever" but when a nobody does literally the same thing (keep in mind we are talking about a simple kick to a target) he just calls the play.
Once or twicea game this would be okay but it's once or twice a minute.

Don't ya think? He’s a total try hard...likes the sound of his own voice.
