i hear you fd.

going back to college a couple of years was such a good decision. so much less repsonsibility there.

the thought of working for the man gets me down, and has in the past. it is just so mundane that it boggles the mind.

i love the thought of just working away for 12 months then pissing off backpacking for another 12... seem like a good way to spend your 20's, which is pretty much what i did from 20 to 25...

will hopefully be what i do for the next five years upon graduating at the end of this month.

things like mortgages, kids, big time responsibility... there is a lot of time for that down the track.

@ Malifice: That is exceptional.

To be serious for a moment (as my last post wasn't), I'm terrified of ever feeling trapped in the way the OP described.

The way I see it, some people make their vocation in life their career. Other people have a career to pay for their vocation, and yet others still will have neither and are content (maybe?) to spend their life getting a degree, then getting a job, then getting married, then a mortgage, then overweight, kids, a divorce, a heart attack...

But why? You don't have to have that life if you don't want it.

My life isn't perfect but whose is? As Ceasar has said, the reason to do what you do is the pay off for the end.

Getting up in the morning, having a shave, going to work... I'm sure it's not that bad. As long as there's a reason to do it. To save for an oveseas vacation. To fund a hobby or a passion. To surround yourself with beautiful things. To spend on a someone you love..?

There's heaps of reasons to get an income, cut your hair, and get a job. Just find one.

@ Nicky- Get your t-shirts out there. I'm sure they're awesome. I'll even buy one.

Choose life.

(Que music).

The way I see it life isnt about 'Get up, go to work, come home, eat dinner, go to bed. Repeat'. It is what you make it.

If 9 to 5 is your thing, then enjoy.

If its not, then change it.

So many people tell me that its impossible, yet we live in an age whereby one can literally be on the other side of the Planet in less than 24 hours and for what most of us earn in a fortnight.

So whats holding you back?

I wasnt happy recently, so I bailed, and travelled the world. Next year, ill be packing up again and driving my way to China through Mongolia from the UK, then finding my way back to Europe.

If youre gonna sit around in one place and work 9-5, at least make it a Job that you love.

Otherwise youre wasting time that could be spent climbing Kilamanjaro, exploring ancient ruins, hitching a ride with Pirates in the Carribean sea, motorbiking through South America, and sleeping under the stars.

You only live once.

Never let fear hold you back.

Wow you're such an inspirational and amazing person malifice.

and WTL, thanks for the encouragement, i'll let you know when i make them.

Without rules and regulations there is no freedom. In a world without any boundaries a word like freedom need not exist as there is no opposite to it. Freedom is something that becomes more important to someone who works harder for it. A person who saves for 5 years to go on a tropical holiday will make the most of their time and enjoy it, as opposed to someone who is gifted things all the time will find these 'freedoms' to be mundane and boring.

So I'm working hard for my freedom-I'm going to have this mindset in life from now on:)
