Do anyone knows if the Dees is interested in Jack Anthony?

I think he is useful and a chance to slip at Pick 32?

Pick 32 is better than recruiting Hale.

Interesting. Dunno what to think about Anthony the footballer. 50 goals in one season shows he's pretty handy at his best. Still youngish too.

I guess if there's no "monster forward" to snare late in the draft or in the PSD then Anthony could be another decent midsized option.

I can't understand why people are against recruiting him. Sure, he is a weird unit, but we have all talked about the fact we need a full forward and here is one available for nothing more than a pre-season draft pick. Surely a bloke who has proven he can kick goals at this level is better than a speculative pick in the draft. Can also play as a defender, so far from a one trick pony.

I would be more than happy with us taking him if he is available. Would take a lot of pressure off Watts and Jurrah and gives us a target at full forward. Got good hands and a strong kick at goal. Also gives us more scope to draft a KPF as they would have greater time to develop at Casey. Very good short term solution for mine.

Pre season draft or late ND only however.

From what I have heard Anthony actually plays his best football in the backline, (word from the VFL) he just never got an opportunity because Collingwood has such solid defenders. He could be a decent replacement for Bruce if he puts the work in.

I'm with you, i think we should look at him, sure he had a poor 2010 but he was very good in 2008-2009 from what i can remember. I'd give him a 2 yr deal and see what he does, if we can keep newton then surely the jack attack can get a go :):thumbsu:

That may be true, but if we're going to draft him it surely has to be as a forward, as we've got much more talent and depth in the backline than up front

I reckon that used to be true but I'm not so sure of it now. Jurrah, Green, Dunn all showed something this year, and even Petterd did with his limited game time. Plus with Watts and Wonna with perhaps Sylvia running around in there from time to time, I think our forward line is looking good. But now losing Bruce, when players like Strauss haven't proven themselves fully yet, perhaps we do need to strengthen the backline.

Would be handy to have Anthony anyway, because if its true that he can play down back then it negates the 'one trick pony' some people were speculating about. (Plus kicking goals is a pretty handy 'trick')

But as Super said, not for anything too valuable.

Yeah you're probably right. Versatility is a big tick nowadays too.

And agree - would be happy to take him in the PSD or even our last ND pick.

Bailey is being diplomatic and crafty. Surely we don't want this guy.

If that's Brad Green's body you should be ashamed. At least put his oversized alien head on Juice's or someone similar to Anthony.

His frame actually is similar to Greens. And lol it's like the only two photos I could find that matched up well enough.

Problem, officer?

I can't believe this. A mate of his told me that Melbourne were interested in him ages ago. I just thought he said that because I rip into Anthony everytime I see him, I hope this is all a bad dream.

If Anthony is the best replacement for Bruce then I am urging the club to get McDonald out of retirement.

Has anyone noticed we are always the first team to come out and say we're interested in a player? But we never land them... same thing will happen..he'll nominate to go to Fremantle or Carlton... and we'll be left looking like idiots again.

Ive been calling for us to get this guy the whole year.

We should 100% go after him.
Its a no brainer we need a big key forward that can take a big grab and kick 2-3 consistently.

People forget that this guy is seriously solid player.. one of the most accurate kicks for the goal in the league.

Get him to the club!!

Id be willing to take him at pick 50. Doubt we'd get him in the PSD.
Key forwards dont grow on trees.
This is getting me excited.. make JACK A DEE!

I don't understand why so many people are against recruiting him. A 23 year old key forward with obvious ability, possibly arriving for a bargain basement price. His first 36 games produced 75 goals. He lost his spot in the team this year, but so did several other distinguished Magpie players. I am all for getting him in the red and blue.
