That was right infront of me, I think if Mcleod got 1 week for that soft one against Essendon a few years ago, then this is easily worth 2 weeks... he had no reason to do it....

2 weeks im predicting.

There is no way he will go for that! It was right in front of me (I sit 5 rows back), and Scotty had his eyes on the ball, it wasn't even late anyway! And it's not like he could stop himself midair, even if he didn't have his eyes on the ball!
But geez, I could hear the contact! Jess didn't look too well after it, did he? He couldn't even walk! His legs were wobbling all the way to the bench! I still abused him though.
And there's NO WAY there was a 50 metre penalty in it either. What a stupid decision by the umpire. I notice he only paid the guernsey after Sinclair went to the bench, too. He actually waited to see whether Sinclair went off to pay the 50. Disgraceful.

If he goes it will be for not making hard enough contact! Sinclairs concussion is whats called 'karma' remember what that sniper did 12 months ago to Picione, and along the way theres been plenty of cheap shots, every dog has its day!

Abused him?? What sort of idiot would abuse a player over a courageous act like that? If it was Skipworth you would hav estood up and appluaded him off the ground.

Frightening isn't it?

Don't reckon he should go for it. It probably was not late enough. Clumsy, try hard but not dirty.

yeah thats poor form abusing a player coming off with concussion.

Im afraid he will get games and its a shocking blight on the game if he does. Not so much this particular incident, but just the consistanty is sh*****se and something needs to be done.

In past years it would get a match and you could note 5 or 6 similar bumps over the past 2-3 years that have had a suspension given.

Dont think it was worth a match tho. What could go against Welsh is the fact he left the ground and didnt really need to do it.

Getting back to the incident...

Like one of the Ch 9 commentators said, I think the thing going for him is Jess Sinclair's feet hadn't hit the ground yet.

I wouldn't be suprised if he got a week, but I wouldn't be suprised if he got off either.

And I know that makes no sense.

leave the poor girl alone, she's allowed an opinion.

Have you and Kristof been swapping notes?

Interesting of you to make a call on who is entitled to an opinion too.

It was nothing like the McLeod one.

McLeod was running and then jumping back into a leading forward with the sole intent of hitting the player.

Welsh was a forward on a lead attempting to reach the ball in his own forward 50. Sinclair bravely went across that line and intercepted the pass intended for Welsh, and our boy simply made him earn it with a fair shoulder hit with his arm tucked in.

Welsh got cited for a similar one earlier this season against Collingwood when he collected Clement from a kick-in and he got off.

I just saw it on the winners (the crows-kangaroos game went on for about 20 seconds :D)... Mcleod tried to avoid contact with Lloyd, he had no intent of hitting him.. but anyway.

I think Welsh could get a week, he didnt even go for the ball, it was dangerous and as we saw Sinclair got injured...it mightve been an error in judgement but it was still unnecessary and I think he goes for 1 week.

McLeod was still a defender running into the leading forward with the flight of the ball.

Welsh was running against the flight of the ball - to a pass that was intended for him. Sinclair cut across his path and you know the rest....

Q: What do supporters and coaches always ask of their forwards?

A: That if a defender cuts in front of them or is there to be hit, "make them earn it."

Welsh didn't hit him with a fist, forearm or elbow, a la Tony Lockett or Gary Ablett - Welsh hit him with a fair hip and shoulder and Sinclair while brave, had to cop it sweet.

Hope he does not get games for it but who knows these days. When I first saw it at the ground I was suprised he got reported as it looked like he was just competing for the ball and they had both lept for it at much the same time but it looks worse on slow motion replay as he did leap after Jess had taken the mark.
