i don't think stosurs game is that bad for grass. she is heavily powerful thus should simply be pushing the ball deep and hard to the back of the court to overpower her opponents. she seemingly finds a way to f*** up in situations she can't lose... but does

Stosur's best serve is the kick serve and it doesn't work on grass, lets be honest without her serve she is VERY average, and it shows up on grass. The problem she has is she has NO plan B...

Paszek is impressive. Has she been around long? One to look out for or just the normal randomness of the womens tour?

Well, that's exactly what happened. A faultless performance by Gulbis. Almost 2x more winners than unforced errors, served ridiculously and showed some mental toughness to top it all off. Shame we know he won't be able to keep it up and actually go on a decent run here.

Janowicz def Gulbis 2-6, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6, 9-7.

As expected.

No huge shock that Sam lost, so not disappointed with her effort to be honest. Said to a mate yesterday she was 50/50 at very best to make the 3rd round. That's 10 Wimbledon campaigns for a solitary 3rd round. I think she'd be lucky to make the 2nd round at the Olympics.

Made the QF of Wimbledon last year. Won a title last week but prior to that was losing just about everything. She's got talent and she's still young but ...

Bad luck Sam, at least she won a match this year. Although the way she's been showing how stressed she is during a match is a bit out of character, even when she appears composed, in reality she's crapping herself. Its a bit difficult to watch to be honest.

Also is it fair to say Aussies aren't really grasscourters anymore? I'm not just saying this because everybody bombed out this year, but I swear apart from Kooyong there are no grasscourts in Melbourne (at least in the northern and western subrubs). And apart from Bernie's run last year its pretty much been the same deal for a few years where we have very few singles wins.

stosur lost in the second round?

*being superficial, to hell with this Aussie pride bs!* What did her Dutch opponent look like?

I'd Rusther!!!!

Caroline's opponent was not bad viewing either, it takes credentials to play on centre court

Something needs to be done about it, fair enough it's a big shot with extra effort but every bloody time they hit the ball?? Would drive me absolutely nuts if I had to play tennis against someone that did that.

Whinge, you don't like it, switch it off, and she is far from the WORST! The opponent Lisiki played was 100 times worse, Azarenka is just as bad. Nadal (and I love the bloke) grunts as much as well!

Well grass courts are a bitch to maintain and cost a crapload which is why there aren't many around. Shame really, love watching grasscourt tennis as it promotes attacking, positive tennis.

Karlovic vs Murray at 1 set all. Love watching Karlovic play haha, they should just automatically skip to the tiebreak though. All he has to do is fluke a point or two in the breaker and he's got it.
