Eagles puts Woosh contract talks on ice

West Coast coach John Worsfold will have to wait until June to begin discussions about extending his contract to coach the Eagles beyond this season.
With the Eagles legend out of contract at the end of this year, speculation has already begun about his future, with the Eagles coming off their worst ever season in 2008.
But as Worsfold enters his eighth season as coach of the team he captained to a premiership, CEO Trevor Nisbett said there was no issue with the stability of the club - and both parties were of a similar understanding about the position.
"There is certainly no issue with stability with John at the helm, and that has always been our case," Nisbett said.
"John and the club will talk mid season, we have been very clear with that on Woosh and he understands exactly what is going on.
"We will probably sit down at the bye and start talking about an extension and how the team is going and how he sees it going."
The Eagles fly out for their now annual trip to Alice Springs - this time to take on Adelaide in a NAB Challenge match on Friday night.
A cluster of key West Coast Eagles players will be injected into the team to play including forward Ashley Hansen, utility Adam Selwood, forwards Mark LeCras and Josh Kennedy, wingman Sam Butler and midfielder Tyson Stenglein.
And Nisbett said that despite the woes of last year, that were compounded by injuries to key personnel, he was confident there was improvement to come from the Eagles - if they could keep their best team on the park.
"We are confident if we can get our best squad on the park and do that consistently we can have a good year, and how much we improve will depend on how well some of our young guys come through," Nisbett told 6PR radio.
"Our members and supporters are aware of that, and when you are coming off four wins (in 2008), absolutely we are hoping for rapid improvement.
"There is a new game style the coaches are trying to implement and the guys are starting to play, and that will take a little bit of time as well."
