There has been quite a bit of talk on Bigfooty of late of some inconsistencies at the selection table. For eg, Tuck being kept out for an extended period, Post not being given a decent run in the seniors, Connors out / unavailable / injured.
On the other hand, some eyebrows have been raised about Dea coming back into the side so quickly this week, Miller getting games, Hislop getting games, Edwards getting games when he has been a bit up and down etc.
I watched training a number of times this pre-season when I was taking some time off work, and it was pretty obvious watching training that there was a large difference between those that "gave 110%" at training and those that seemed to cruise through and / or muck around alot. For eg, Miller, King, Riewolt and Foley always gave 110% at the training sessions that I attended.
I think that some of the selection decisions (perhaps with the exception of Tuck who does seem to have his papers stamped) are due to matters outside the 120 minute match that the players play each week. I think a lot of it has to do with attitude and effort at training, willingness to follow instructions etc etc. If that is the case, I think we should have a bit more faith in the selection committee to pick the team that rewards the players who are doing the right thing 7 days a week, not just during the AFL or VFL game that week.
Thoughts?

Not certain we should be mentioning Ablett Sr, nor Jr, or Fevola in the same sentence as Post, Hislop and whoever else!!!
