Gilchrist > Sangkarra
Hayden > Tendulkar
Ponting > Vaughan
Martyn > Lara
Lehmann > Dravid
Clarke > Kallis
Symonds = Sehwag
McGrath > Pollock
Lee <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Akhtar
Gillespie > Harmison
Hogg > Murali

For a ODI game:
Gilchrist > Gayle
Hayden > Sehwag
Ponting < Tendulkar
Martyn < Lara
Symonds = Sangakarra
Lehmann < Kallis
Clarke < Flintoff
McGrath > Cairns
Lee < Pollock
Gillespie > Akhtar
Hogg < Murali

Given the all round ability of Gayle, Tendulkar, Cairns, Flintoff and Kallis the Aussies would be hard pushed to win. The squad bats all the way down to number 9, each one a potential match winner, it also boasts 8 successful ODI bowlers. Could Australia beat this squad?

One option for the One Day side is Dravid to keep and play another batsman or all rounder like a Flintoff[/QUOTE]

dravid couldnt catch the ball even if the ball was a tennis ball. i've watched him "try" to keep over the last 6 months and i've come to the conclusion.....he's ********

One DAy Team :cool:

Gilchrist >>> Sehwag
Hayden < Tendulkar
Ponting >>> Vaughan (this is for their batting and captaincy)
Martyn = Lara (remember that this is a one day match)
Lehmann = Dravid
clarke ? Kallis .... you really cant say. Clarkey is just a youngster and Kallis doesnt play to well against australia
Symonds > Sangakkara
Gillespie >> Pollock
McGrath >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Harmison
Lee > Akhtar / kasporwicz >> Akhtar
Hogg << Muralitharan

Eddiesmith you have Kumble/Pollock batting ahead of Sangakarra WTF?

Sangakarra is a sweet batsman, Pollock and Kumble are kenny, please explain?

Kumble was just put there as I think they may either go for Pollock or Kumble as a second spinner. Dont know much about Sangakarra and I was putting the all rounder ahead of the keeper. If Kumble played he would be no9. or 10.

symonds<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< sehwag, symonds is no where near sehwag and never will be, dravid is a lot better then lehman, lee equal with aktah, and murali ********s all over hoggy, oh and tendulka is > hayden and same as lara over martyn

Sangakarra < Mcullum

And I'm not just saying this based on his performances in Australia. He has served NZ well, with his wicket keeping and batting, especially when ever NZ struggles in the top order, he is always scores quick 50's and make their total look respective. He is highly under-rated and bats at no.7, although he should be batting in NZ's top 5. On top of this, he is doing all of that at the age of 23. Huge star of the future for NZ.

Are people actually taking thought into choosing the wicket keepers for the WORLD XI, or are they just choosing Sangakarra just for the sake of it? He is just a basic Wicket keeper, nothing special.

Proof that Mcullums better? Watch NZ v SL in the one day/test series and you'll know who's better.

The Australian outfit is a better team lineup but the World XI has some more individuals who would beat their counterparts especially on current form, Symonds cant be considered better than anyone

That assessment looks just about spot on and if Flintoff was added then the ROW team is very strong.

Cmon guys, I mean Tendulkar has only belted Bangladesh around and the odd innings here and there, other than that he has done nothing recently compared to Hayden who averaged 40 in an average year for him. Gillespie is > to Akhtar because he is the best bowler in the world, look at his strike rate, it is awesome bewteen him and McGrath.

And Harimson is bowling crap at the moment, did anyone watch the first test against South Africa?

have they decided if the 6 day match go down as an official test match or not (hence affecting averages, etc)?
Its not an official test match, so there test averages will not be affected. It should have test status i reckon.

And can you remember Lees last test match? I know it was nearly 12 months ago but he conceded 201 runs. That is shocking. There is no fast bowler in the world that would be considered worse than Lee.

Tendulkar is one of the greatest ever, and it seems your memory is a bit short as I seem to remember him smashing Australia around and giving Lee those figures. And as for recently, he has missed a bit of cricket and just finding his feet again after tennis elbow, an elbow injury is about the worst a batsman can get and takes ages to get over.

Hayden is great but

Tendulkar definately >> Hayden

I can't believe how many squads have Vaughan. HE AVERAGES 27! And that's despite batting up the order. Never made a century. He has to be the most ordinary ODI player mentioned in any of these lists and it's hard to understand how he keeps his spot in England's team much less a World XI. Fleming, Shoaib Malik, Inzi, Laxman, Jayawardene, Gayle, Gibbs, Sarwan, Jayasuriya have all got better career records and better 2004 ODI records.

Sarwan averaging 56 this year has to go close.

i reckon that gilly n sehwag can both be destructive if they stay in a while or they can get out, lara may just have an edge over ponting
