ive always thought that the south african team on super sports and sky sports in the UK are a fantastic group of commentators but they too have the luxury of not having to plug random shit as well.

How is it possible that Chappell isn't even an option. He is the only commentator that actually makes me angry and annoyed when he is talking. Sure the others arent great but i can cope with them. Chappell just really pisses me off.

I seem to recall Blewett going ok for Sky Sports when we played the last ashes series in England. Seemed to know his stuff a lot more than a lot of the commentators we get. Warne is another who really knows his stuff and gives a fair bit of insight about players from both sides.

I do happen to like Chappelli's daily soapbox though.

Quite easily Tony Greig, but they're nearly all awful. I quite like Chappelli and Healy. Tubby can be really annoying...just heard him describe how Michael Clarke was "bought up"...3 times. I know cricket is all about money, but bring----brought, buy---bought. It's not that difficult.

I prefer to listen to the ABC commentators, invariably, but because there's a slight delay in the telecast it gets annoying that they're not in sync.

Funny how Nine had a New Zealand commentator for that series but no Indian commentator for this series...

Since they decided to have 3 in the box a few years back they stopped getting overseas commentators, i assume the only reason smith was roped in was that bill lawry was missing in action for that series.

The ABC commentary is great as is Fox Sports. Bill is the only reason to tune in to the channel 9 commentary.

Mark Taylor - I don't know what's happened, either he or I have changed, I don't mind him. A nice mix of layman/expert speak imo. Whereas before I thought he was a bit vanilla as a commentator

Michael Slater - I posted on another thread, he has been a good commentator, he's got energy. But that was the case when working for C4 in England and ABC Grandstand. I think being a part of C9 has stuffed him up a bit and he would continue to be good as part of a different attitude/channel/commentary team.

Richie Benaud, Bill Lawry - I'm actually bored of them now.

Mark Nicholas - His enthusiasm for cricket is great. The way he expresses himself, like a douche, as a result of his enthusiasm is a weakness.

Ian Chappell - Even if a batsmen, bowler, captain or team did everything in a acceptable, correct or sensible manner, he would still find something to nit pick at! Just stfu Chappelli!

Tony Greig - I would've sworn, during one of the tests against NZ, he, on behalf of all the elder commentators, took credit for the exciting cricket shown during the games. Paraphrasing "We have been pointing out the good/bad of cricket for so long in the interests of the game...These newer generation, younger captains (Clarke and Taylor) have been listening to this growing up, therefore, it's a part of their nature to set attacking fields, which produces great cricket..." What a w***er!

Ian Healy's my nomination though. On top of all the poo which, to the unaware, could be seen as expert commentary. Ed Cowan's lbw, whether or not you agree, was fair enough, but would this d******* let go? Embarrassing, it's people like him who contribute to making people from other countries/cultures think of Australians as backward, unwashed, bogan neanderthals!

I used to like Slater but he has been the worst this summer re. talking about anything other than the game itself.

Him and Healy are pretty much barrackers in the box too, which I don't mind as an Aussie fan, but it's pretty unprofessional.

They all suck, really. Other than Richie and Tony, none of them seem to watch any cricket other than the ones Channel 9 covers and show an embarrassing igorance of visiting players and teams.
