there is as much miss-statement and over-estimation as there is in the Carlton Board.
Gibbs is going to be an AWESOME player. already has the best vision in the league.

obviously you wouldn't trade Danger & Otten. but is it so crazy to think that both Danger & Gibbs might one day want to go home, at which point something can probably be sorted out.

So you voted no? Not a mis statement, or over estimation then.

Best vision in the league is pushing it alot btw.

c'mon, danger & otten + 2nd rnd pick is stupid.
but so are a number of the comments here, trying to run Gibbs down and somehow pretend he's not a great player in the making. there is a lot of room to play between the margins there.

I'd think fair value is somewhere in the vicinity of Danger straight up. it can be finessed a little either way, but that's the heart of a deal you'd think.

I'd do Otten & 1st rnd too.

nope. :)

Sure. Id also happily not do that trade.

Knowing you, youve got some crazy stat to back this up, so come on with it. :p

sorry, just an observation. sees the field like a prime Simon Black imo. and maybe better. not to mention the way he glides over the turf. on reflection maybe Didak has better vision, but we're splitting hairs.

the reason I might not trade Danger is that I think MacKay is a little similar to Gibbs. not as good, but that's no slight - I'd say he's something like 85% of the player as an illustration. style and fitwise - the bull in the china shop + mackay is a better balance that Mackay & Gibbs.

Is there a reason people say Danger would want to go home? I mean, didn't he live 45 minutes further out in the country from Geelong. Would be like saying you would want to go home to Keith if you were from Adelaide and played in Melbourne.

I dunno, reading some of the Carlton board's thread, I reckon we rate Gibbs higher than they do:eek: Except for the fact that they'd want Danger, Otten and co for him. But yeah, I think some here are still bitter that we didn't get Gibbs and are taking that bitterness out on Gibbs himself.

I'd do Otten & 1st rnd too.

I'd certainly consider that too, although, depends on which end of the 1st round the pick was.

Not really, just the usual paranoia that tends to surround gun victorian recruits.

Obviously Gibbs is a very good player and is going to become an even better one, but at the moment he just doesn't win enough hard ball. He is a great size but he's never in and under in packs. Yeah, he's not that type of player but with a big body like his he should really be pushing the smaller midfielders around. At the moment he just sits off packs and basically works into space. He is a beautiful kick and has fantastic vision though, however you get the feeling he could be so much more. You don't really get the feeling he can consistently break games open, sure he has kicked a bag of goals on one or 2 occasions but he's not really the game breaker type that Dangerfield is. Gibbs never ever makes a mistake. That's what I live about him most, he's ultra reliable and usually wins most 1 on 1 contests, but you get the feeling he could do so much more.

What I said earlier was not meant as a slight on Gibbs. I wish he was on our list. Danger will be a more valuable player over the course of his career IMO. He is both inside and outside. Tough in the clinches and can move like the wind when he gets the pill. Gibbs at present looks like an outside runner only. Yes, he has great vision and kicks well, but doesn't often get his own ball. I don't know about Gibbs' and Otten's relative values over their careers. Jury still out.
Otten for Gibbs maybe. Definitely not Dangerfield.

Reilly and Griffin? Carlton badly need a ruckman to help Kruezer. Dont think Cam Cloke will be there much longer.
Carlton aren't that badly up for ruckmen. They traded for Warnock at the end of 2008, unfortunately he's missed most of 2009 due to injury - but is expected to resume playing shortly. They also have Shaun Hampson, not sure what his story is.
