A lot of the quality AFL fullbacks are forward's who arent turned backmen. I havent seen a real FB go that high in a while. Mills for Brisbane went about 25if i recall and that year Austin Lucy was tipped to go high but lasted to pick 60 odd.
Its an interesting position.
Nathan Brown - All-Australian Full Back, Pick #10 in the 2006 Draft.

Darren Glass went at pick #11 and was always a Full Back too.

2008 draft is the go. Will probally improve enormously if he misses out on this years draft.

I rekon he will go this year clubs wont let him slip by they'd prefer to grab him and let him develop later same as xavier ellis just lock him up and let him grow if he needs it . he is to talented to let go this draft

Also on selwood if he goes in this draft he is liable to be a later pick which will mean he will go to a stronger club so he would be mad not to go into the draft this year if he got picked up by a west coast brisbane sydney this year as a later draft it would be better than getting picked up by (sorry ) the roos or some one that wont play finals for a few years.

Exactly, you would expect a club to pull the trigger on Scott as a bottom-ager.

Is there any FB's in this years draft?

Jayden Donaldson and Bongetti seem to be likey fullbacks for vic country n vic metro respectivly. Donaldson had a very consistant year at Full Back last year rarely had a goal kicked and can play either end of the ground and Bongetti's style of football seems suited for defence in my opinion but like Donaldson can play up Foward aswell. Both should go in the draft Bongetti higher then Donaldson id imagine. Also after watching Selwood play round 1 he is far from skinny. Very solid for his age and im tipping he'll go round 2 in this years draft providing he keeps injury free.

Luke Casey-Leigh is very underrated he is an absolute gun from sandringham dragons. about 197cm athletic and will dominate this year and should go as one of the top picks, was injured round 1 but watch out for him this weekend

Fev has played full back.

Isn't Jay Neagle being developed into a key defender?

He was playing backline, but in the pre season kicked 4 goals on Mal two games in a row at FF. He has really good speed off the mark and long arms so he is currently playing Full Forward. He kicked 5 goals a few weeks back, but took a screamer last weekend and fell down hard and had a quite one.

I think playing in the backline is a good learning expierence for a young forward, to see how the top forwards go about their business, which happens a fare bit.

On Nathan Brown, i think he went pick 10 because he has the versatilty of playing forwardline as well, and he did very very well at DC. Same could be said of Lachlan Hansen he is a very mobile tall who can be groomed at either end. Pure Full backs that go really high seem pretty rare.

Absolutely wrong. If any thing we need that sort of talent. Ill tell you now if we get a highly skilled player then he will walk into our side.

I doubt wether Luke Casey-Leigh will even get drafted let alone go high in the draft. His size may get him rookie listed though.

Why wouldn't Scott Selwood be drafted early if he nominates?

Something to do with him not being that good. Its like asking why wouldnt i get drafted if i nominated, simply not good enough.

I must have missed the posts which stated that you might be a better footballer than your brothers wizard_6, wizard_7 and wizard_8.

I believe Pavlich, Jordan Lewis and Shaun Grigg were overlooked the year before they were drafted and your comments are a tad harsh since it's only April.

I can't see young Selwood getting overlooked this year. Even if he has an ordinary year someone will spec him I think. He comes in compared favourably with his brothers and they all look like being good AFL players at worst.

I didnt mean he wasnt any good. You said why wont he get drafted early? The reason he 'may not' get drafted early is because he 'may not' be good enough to go early.

im tending to agree.... i see him going mid to late this year.. cant see him going early but cant see him being over looked

Nathan Brown - All-Australian Full Back, Pick #10 in the 2006 Draft.

Nathan Brown played FF for North Ballarat, and Mitch Brown played CHF/Ruck for them.

Come the carnival and Country were desperate for a big key defender (frightened of Sellar and Hawkins). Nathan's first games at FB were the trials games for Country. He starred. He was only swung to the backline for Nth Ballarat mid-year as part of that successful experiment.

Nathan Brown would be the perfect example of ho-hum forward being converted into a defender.
