Serena keeps getting away with death threats.

yet i think it was two years ago an aussie player got suspended for racial comments.

whats worse racial comments or death threats?

hint: one's against the law

Lleyton Hewitt got fined for calling a linesman a *******, he also had to do some sort of charity work (probably with a ******* foundation)
The sporting world are mega harsh on racial or personal insults to minority groups etc.

I think the ITF, WTA etc should come down harsh on repeat offender Serena.

Pretty sure she was stripped of prize money last time she did this.

Her response is, "oh it's just me, I'm intense out there"

Bullshit Serena. You're a bad sport, childish & self centered.
Her twitter response after the game (where she spelt Stosur as "stoser") and talked her self up was just as ignorant.

She's what, 28, 29 years old now. Fewl.

She draws the line by taking it off court with a comment like "if you see me, walk the other way"
Sport or not, for the umpire it is a workplace. Courtside, in the rooms, wherever.
Many softies the world over would be on workers comp, fearing a return to work.
$$$

Players are fined all the time, apparently one of the Bryan Bros got fined 10k for puttinng his hand on an official (that's the official explination). I don't see what the point of fining Serena $2,000 was, she'll just open up her wallet and give it to em, may as well not fine her at all. It was probably because they didn't wanna suspend her as she's still on "probation". Anyway stuff her, Sammy owned her arse and she's basically taken away from what a champion she actually is. Will be interesting to see the response she gets at AO, she's made comments in the past about getting a lot of support down here so we'll see if that continues.

A harsher penalty could be deemed racist.

Sounds like some of the crazy fans from tennisforum.

It was the threatening comments towards the umpire that are the worst thing. The way she anwsered the questions at the start of the tournament about the '09 incident just proved how Serena hasn't learnt anything from it. If this was a fair world, she wouldn't be playing next year at New York but for obivous reason that was never going to happen.

This latest incident was nothing really compared with a couple of years ago.
I don't think Aussies should feel annoyed with her last time I checked Sam beat her no real issues with that!!! :D
Red+Black I think you need to calm down :p

The opening 3 words of this post shows that Serena should have got smacked down with a much harsher penalty. She is becoming a serial offender in relation to bad sportswomanship. The only thing I recall of McInroe was poor behaviour, not as an all-time great of the game. Didn't Serena get some sort of bonus from a sponsor at the presentations? Wouldn't have minded that being stripped.

Please come to Melbourne Serena. I can guarantee you will not enjoy your time here.

Australian tennis fans don't generally harp on issues like this especially given Serena's power status. She'll get a little crap from the media but she'll anwser them in her usual immature way.

To be honest I would prefer she got a harsher penalty (although the "let off" two years ago is where the real problem occured) but my first post was really to diffuse previous posts. I mean really to we care about this that much and feel that aggreived by Serena's behaviour that we are going to hang shit on her at games. If she had said something to Sam, then fair game, but seriously this is just Serena being Serena which is unfortunately very unpleasant but nothing to start rioting over.

The bit that really annoyed be to be honest was her total denial and aloof and condescending tone she used in deflecting accusations of bad sportsmanship in the post match interview.

But you'd have to think something will happen in Perth, Sydney or Melbourne. I can't imagine she will be welcomed. Surely she has lost fans over this ridiculous outburst. If there was ever any doubt that she is a despicable individual, last weekend dispelled those doubts.

If Sam ended up losing I would agree with you, as I can just imagine how livid everyone would be, but otherwise I don't think so. She still has enough fans down here who will support her regardless. So can I ask, red+black, are you going to go out of your way to give her shit?:p

EDIT: Since this thread's about Serena, I thought I just might ask if anyone has seen the youtube video of Serena shaking her rear end, with not much on for trousers. I have not seen it, as I really don't want to, but yeah, you kind of wonder what a roughly 30 year old woman is doing making such videos.

Yes, she is a disgrace, however, it is partially due to the way she was brought up.

Her father would supposedly yell insults at her and her sister in the event the made any error. Now, when anger is the solution to poor performance, you can understand why it may be replicated on court.

once again, i dont condone her actions, just saying that possibly the reason for her actions is off court

She's not a little child any more. Or is she... ?

Yeah... I guess she is.
