Mero, just a heads up, when you do the 2012 season kits, Adelaide has three red and yellow stripes on their socks.

I saw that on a few players too, but many still had the two. I'll need to see some better pictures to verify whether it's a new thing or simply extra bits, not necessarily meant for exhibition, we didn't see under the regular navy fold... perhaps, both.

See what I mean with this pic, on Dangerfield's left sock only a small part of the yellow is visible under the fold; and the width of the lowestmost hoops don't suggest they've been 'squeezed' this year to incorporate extra stripes.

It's the next design of socks.
Basically they're thick stockings these days. Much more elastic and no distinct top.
Instead of making a top to the socks, which is designed to fold over, they are just one piece.
However, players have grown up wearing footy socks, so they fold the tops over.
The most obvious example of this is at StKilda, where Nick Reiwoldt pulls the socks up as high as they can go at the bottom, them bunches everything up just under his knee.
This gives the impression of the socks just having one Red and one White hoop.

Not usually, looks a lot better though.
Port wore their clash against Carlton in their prior match too.

Before the wider prevalence of the PC in the early 1980s what we today call fonts were typefaces.
There were thousands of typefaces.
Some have been converted to PC based fonts, others have not.
Numbers in the earliest days were made of felt and sewn onto jumpers.
Traditionally most manufacturers used Helvetica as the standard font for numbers.
Although some manufacturers would simply cut the number by machine, based on a hand drawn template.
This might roughly have been close to Helvetica, or another typeface, but was effectively what we would call a custom font today
With the advent of fonts, and printed numbers, came fons.
Helvetica has been used by some clubs, more recently Impact and Helvetica Condensed as well.

As far as the AFL number font, I believe it is custom made for the AFL, who hold the licence to print the numbers with the AFL logo on them.
They are designed to look like the old school footy numbers based on Helvetica, but are slightly different.
The only way to get these numbers on your PC is to trace them or make copies from photos footy jumpers. Or buy every single number from an AFL supplier and scan them.
(or if you have graphics software you can lift them from the pdf catalogues of AFL suppliers)

There are also version of these numbers with an outline.
Some clubs use the outline in the same colour as the number, thus making the number Bold.

If anyone has Fontographer, FontForge or some other similar software, it's possible to make a TrueType representation of guernsey numbers. Might be beyond most on this board, but for those who want a challenge and feel confident with Photoshop, give it a go. Do it without AFL logos though, so you don't get hit with licensing fees.

Might also be worth putting a request on a font forum or three and see if someone more skilled than our board members wouldn't mind doing a Footy-Number-Font for free. Given it's only a limited set to work with, it wouldn't be much trouble for them.
10 digits 0-9
+ maybe 10 digits outlined (use characters q-p)
+ letters used in AusKick and AFL 9s. (b,c,f for normal, B,C,F for outlined)

Just downloaded a program and had a play around, actually not that difficult.

I altered a helvetica font to include the above numbers.

If nobody else wants to do it I'll give it a crack.

Mero, I don't suppose you have a vector file of the numbers I could grab off you? With AFL numbers in them would be even better if possible.

PS There would have to be a few verions if you're using the AFL logo.
On coloured numbers the AFL text and circle is White
But on White numbers the AFL text and circle can be Black, Navy, Royal, Purple, or Red.

GWS wore their home jumper in the NAB cup games but there was small text above the numbers, I couldn't really read it but I think it said 'CANBERRA'.

Does the Tiger official logo have a black box around it? Because on their site a lot of the time it has no box and black text (same with the AFL site). By the looks of it the tiger logo on your site has red eyes but I think the actual tiger has brown eyes.

Sometimes it has the black box, depends what it's on.
But it should have brown eyes.

Pretty minor nitpick but on the season by season uniforms, the Lions 08, 09 and 10 strips have the KooGa collar and not the Puma one.
