I wandered down to Port on Sat and was very excited to see Trent running around......

1 Passage of play was him swoopinig on what appeared to be a dead ball in the guts and eluding 2 port players to deliver laces out to kane who slotted it straight through the eye didle didle......

Didnt play a lot of min due to match fitness but when he was on the ground had really good footy smarts, I think i saw 1 poor decision....

TigerTroy- Collins played in the resis but tore it up from all accounts.

And can some one explain why Our Full back plays up forward for Coburg????

Thanks for the report. How did he look size-wise, pace etc?

I saw alot of him last year and some pre-season this year. He has the build of Pop-eye (including massive forearms) and the footy brain of an Ian Stewart (showing my age there). On Sat after one extraction from nowhere the XX commentator exclaimed: 'how did he do that'! I suspect we'll hear many such comments over his career.

Cant wait to see this kid rip em up in the seniors!

For those who are craving info on Cotch, reported in the HUN today he played 70% of the game and had 26 disposals. Now instead of heaping pressure on the kid to come in and perform at AFL level, how about we keep a lid on it and let him just get a game first, before we put the messiah label on him.

The top 4 draft picks are pretty much ready made for senior footy RT. Cotch is all class and we need one more inside midfielder in the side. Tucky would be on shaky ground right now. Hard nut but deplorable skills IMO and won't improve much more. We need more class in this side. I say if he's fit and healthy bring the kid in. Look at kruzer, palmer, masten, morton, all top draft picks and all playing good footy.

No-one is calling him the messiah.... just very excited about him....

Personally id like to see him in about round 10. Give him 6 weeks of solid hiotouts in the Bugers and get his match fitness up.... Maybe along side Cogs so there is not as much presure on him alone.

I agree with all 3 of you, just knowing how some posters get over excited at the prospect of a kid coming in and setting the world on fire, only to turn on the kid when they fail to live up to the expectations.

Perhaps it might be better if we simply take the view that we know Cotchin will be a very good player and let him just find his feet and play a few games first before we start talking him up too much.

I'm taking the position that anything he does do this year will be a bonus in terms of playing at AFL level, especially since he missed all of the preseason. Next year with a full preseason under his belt is when we should be getting really excited.

I'm thinking we don't put a round number on it...He'll get a game when he's in the Best at Coburg having played a full game AND there is a vacancy in the best 22 for him to fill ( and if the best 22 keep him out, then it's a good thing! ).

Could not agree more from all reports he is smashing them for coburg. As you said if he is fit play him. Goes to show he really is good to have no preseason till only a few weeks ago and kill them at vfl level. Lets see him come in and tuck out. We need skill and players that are fast and hard and he is that!

No lids, this is not a casserole. This kid is good, we should be excited and besides the press will be all over him like Rhys Palmer so he may as well get used to it.

Prior to the draft last year, I was really hoping we had've taken Cotchin at #1. Some of the things he did at junior level were Judd-esque, except for the real explosiveness off the mark and ability to break tackles.

As was reported, he can make something out of nothing, and his best atribute is his ability to kick as good off his left as his right. If this kid develops like I think he will, he will be a gun.

One thing though guys. He only made it into last years draft by about 2-3 weeks, so he is very bottom aged. Don't expect too much from his this year.

We're a pretty patient mob HBF ;)

once he if fit he will be in
he is way too talented
was named in best on sat and only played 70%
he will get better and better and will be in for the dreamtime game i would say

I reckon we have enough HBF's

No Backline for this kid please !

Lol

You should have read what he quoted

Cotchin is a reserve in my Super Coach team so I am interested in him. Hope he gets to play sometime this year and rips it up.

Btw I went to the Fremantle, Richmond game a few weeks back and your boys looked good:thumbsu:

Exactly the thing I was trying to get across, anything Cotchin does this year should be seen as an appertiser. Give the kid a chance to play the game at the highest level before the expectations kick in. Yes he has talent and yes he should be a great player for the club, but we just need to let the kids come on naturally instead of hyping them up before their time. I don't recall other teams fans hyping up their kids as much as ours before they play games. For once I would just like to see us hold back.
