After watching the event last night (just got released by Smart Mark Video yesterday), I have to revise my pick for Match of the Year:

GCW Ready to Die (December 16, 2017)
Death Match for the GCW World Heavyweight Championship
Matt Tremont (C) vs. Nick Gage

The third and final match in their ultraviolent trilogy from this year. These are two of the most decorated and respected performers in the history of deathmatch wrestling, and their previous encounters were insane, but this was truly off the page in terms of intensity and brutality. Running a marathon 47 minutes bell-to-bell, this was just shockingly violent, perhaps moreso than any match I've seen in 20 years of watching any sort of professional wrestling.

By no means was this a technical clinic, and for many would simply not be their cup of tea at all, but in terms of sheer spectacle and awe and "where else would you see something like this?", this match is #1 for 2017, hands down.
