Only chance he was going to get so he had to take it. His record as an assistant in various roles doesn't exactly inspire confidence. If he does well the board can say to the members they were justified in sacking Mick as it was clearly a coaching issue. If he does badly, the new coach will have a longer honeymoon period not to mention they get a high pick in the draft. Win either way considering where they are at right now.

I love your logic. It's a win win situation for the Carlton board.

Didn't even know he was a Carlton Assistant but when he was named coach my mind immediately sprung to our 2010-ish era forward line shambles.

Correct, Clarkson is responsible for Ass coaches, game plan is to taxing, lack genuine pace through midfeild and Franklin / Roughhead are not leading up to the ball carrier with any conviction. Definite leadership issues within the playing group and coaching staff and administration lack cohesion. Barker is but a small problem. Time to take stock.
