Can anyone explain why the NFNL have such strict sponsorship logo guidelines for jumpers?

It’s a great way to generate money. If clubs want a logo across their chests then why not?

The OMFNL as you've cited in this picture has very different logo requirements. They have the Country Victoria logo in the usual league position, Worksafe who are sponsors of VIc Country leagues, then on the other side there's the Ovens & Murray League logo and under that is SSA who sponsor that league. Doesn't leave much else besides the chest for club sponsors which every club in that league has. From an aesthetic point of view I think the NFNL has it pretty spot on while still allowing for two sponsors on the front and two on the back. Page 7 of this document has it shown pretty well. https://nfnl.org.au/wp-content/uplo...-Logo-Guidelines-Style-Guide-Adopted-2019.pdf

May generate a few more $$$ but that looks terrible.

I recall many many years ago an Australian soccer side went to the UK for some Club competition and were banned from wearing their actual jersey as "you look like prostitutes selling your soul" in regards to the amount of sponsors they had compared to what is normal in the soccer world.

I am all for making as much money as you can for your club but for mine what we have is more than enough.

How does it take so long to work out the first round fixture for Juniors when team nominations had to be in weeks ago?
Another classic NFNL tactic to avoid facing any requests for changes.
Therefore leaving clubs minimal time to get organised.
Nothing has changed since Dictator MacDougal left.

What do you expect? Nothing will ever change.

I am sure this article in the Herald Sun puts all rumors and innuendo regarding salary cap cheating to bed. All is good in the world. Five compliance officers and 15 integrity officers, wonder how much that costs.

Salary cap: AFL Victoria bolsters resourcing to keep footy payments in check

Anomalies have been detected from audits on than 100 country footy teams conducted since the end of last season, but no major breaches as the process nears completion.

AFL Victoria is doubling down on its commitment to the salary cap as the key tool in controlling expenditure on country footballers.

The governing body’s first crack at auditing every club that played off in a grand final is 96 per cent complete with remaining checks to be completed in 10 days.

No major breaches have been detected to date.

But in some cases clubs missed lodgement dates, had incomplete or incorrect player declarations, and non-declared player forms and misinterpreted coach payment deals.

“AFL Victoria commends the clubs on the way they have co-operated with the review and were able to clarify anomalies identified and submit documents not initially provided to satisfy the compliance requirements,” community football manager John O’Donohue said.

“The feedback from clubs that were reviewed has been positive in that they are now better informed as to the obligations and management of their allowable player payments.”

Electronic systems to better manage player payments are being explored alongside an “aspirational” goal to have all clubs compliant by June 30 each year.

AFL Victoria has five compliance officers and 15 integrity officers policing the cap.

“AFL Victoria is committed to providing support to where it’s needed most, including easing the burden on volunteers who are often responsible for administrative requirements at clubs,” Mr O’Donohue said.

Many club and league officials remain sceptical that upfront, sign-on cash payments can ever be truly stamped out.

Salary caps this season range from $30,000 in the Omeo District league to $130,000 in the Ovens and Murray and Goulburn Valley leagues.

There has been no addition to the 26 country clubs that have folded since 2000 in the off-season.

But two newly-merged entities, Southern Mallee Thunder and Maryborough Giants, will take the field for the first time in coming weeks.

North Central league clubs Nullawil and Wycheproof-Narraport will merge for the 2025 season.

Corowa-Rutherglen made a successful return to the Ovens and Murray league on Saturday after putting three football teams in recess last year.

“Understanding local environments, identifying key people of influence within the football and broader communities will be vital in ensuring that the game thrives in growth areas and consolidates in areas experiencing declining trends in population,” Mr O’Donohue said.

“AFL Victoria recognises that areas of regional Victoria face inevitable challenges to maintain the footprint of community sport, not just Australian rules football.

“However, maintaining current levels of participation in those areas can be considered growth and therefore requires localised approaches to engage communities appropriately.”

Started following the Northern Footy Show a bit more, how great is it.

Some awesome interviews and insights to local clubs. I hope this grows and grows, cannot see why anyone would have issues with these guys, would love to see them get bigger with more journos that could say interview players/coaches pre or post games etc

Would be great to see them to financial support to grow like that. The league cannot become stagnate and what they are doing, IMO is awesome.

Thanks for the wrap up

Im hearing there is only 12 U17 teams this year, with South Morang and Eltham having two each.

Should this be a concern for clubs and the league more broadly?

I wonder if the league has tried to reach out to the YJFL aligned clubs and see if any are interested in making the switch?

St Damians
Ivanhoe
Macleod
Heidelberg
St Marys
Banyule

That could lift the standard of NFNL signifcantly in those higher junior divisions

Hearing a lot of question marks over some women’s teams to actually get going. Seems like be plenty of clubs 5-10 short of numbers still trying to persist.
Eltham women have forfeited the Friday night season opener according to the app. Obviously don't know the full story but not good signs if you can't get a side on the park for Rd 1

Our junior league is a laughing stock bud, why would clubs join the NFNL joke of a junior league and leave a very professionally run Yarra League?

Yep, they’ve struggled for numbers badly. Heard a few others have sub 20 and will take their chances they can find a few last minute players.

EDFL streaming 3 different match of the day games over the weekend live for viewers. How long will we need to wait for the NFNL to do this?

Its a matter of time before this happens.

PlayHQ are looking into it now i believe.

All games streamed is the future. They already do it in cricket.
