How many times have we seen Chaplin lightly shove his direct opponent into perfect marking position during his career? It's got to be one of his best defensive tactics.

We're also the best at not being the best. Boom.

Also, **** tradition. There's quite a few games that deserve to be the opener of the season over this game. Mediocrity shouldn't be rewarded.

Maybe I shouldn't have gone for Richmond. They have a 2-8 record in the last 10 first rounds, most of them against Carlton. They have a 2-5 record against Carlton in round 1.
Dennis Cometti mentioned after an Ivan Maric mark that if a ruckman only taps but doesn't mark then he's useless. After that every tap Ivan Maric won went to opposition, pretty much negating any good work he did with marking.
Bruce MacAvaney got into it too when Liam Jones took a mark in the forwards saying if you don't take those you're useless(very original, Bruce). He then proceeded to kick a behind from 10 metres out and little angle.

Each team has kicked a goal in the 2nd quarter and Carlton are 17 points ahead.
