Pre-season and Rookie Drafts

Draft KPF this late are bit of a Waste of Time. Has there been any that came good from the Rookie Draft to be Gun KPF?
Although Nathan Bock was more known as a KPD he went pretty bloody good up forward too, not to mention an AA.
Ben Rutten, a KPD and AA came off the rookie list too!

OK I found it, "Jake Long, the son of Essendon legend Michael Long, has been nominated under the pre-selection rookie draft rule, where the club will get access to him if he is not picked in the national draft."

So he wasn't good enough for other clubs to make a bid.

Long has trained with Essendon 2 days a week since 2010, he has been kept under wraps for a long time and listening to Essendon list management team we are as confident about Long playing in the AFL as we are about Laverde.
Dodoro when asked about Long playing in the AFL said "No question"

Well he's not exactly going to say he is no chance is he, but really if it wasn't for the Long name he wouldn't get a look in

Well it's either he's not good enough for ANY club to even bid for him, or the Bombers have hidden him away, under wraps as you say, and that's draft tampering.

has hardly played in the last 2 years which has been his choice, study for the Longs has been a priority.

B
whats the difference in picking someone in pre-season draft and actual draft? do they go on different pay/contract lengths?

otherwise why wouldnt carlton pick tutt in the normal draft? they had already agreed to terms during trade period.
He had the option to put himself in the draft but Carlton would have risked someone else drafting him before they got around to it. This draft they knew no-one with a pick before them would bother.

The cats broke the code, will be interesting to see how that plays out in the next few years.....

He's no good.
I have a fair bit to do with a few at St.Marys.

They have gone very tall

I meant North were intending to re-rookie Delaney, because of a bad toe injury he's had for close to two years, he was at training yesterday...

More chance someone else can pick up "your" player in the ND because there's so many picks. Kind of irrelevant these days though with being able to nominate terms in the ND and the addition of DFAs, so we see it gradually degenerating into this.
