I'm very defensive, stand pretty far back and just keep returning, waiting for them to make a mistake. Key is to not go for outrageous smashes unless they're absolute sitters.

Sound exactly like me! I've played plenty of people who are clearly more talented than me, but as I just seem to get everything back, they eventually make a mistake and crack it .
