Last year I was thinking JK but his 2014 form is a bit iffy, then again no candidate is setting the world on fire at the moment. So I'd be content with Kennedy.
However I voted Naitanui. It would have been good if he was able to have strung another solid AFL year together before becoming captain but that's what injuries do. They heck s**t up. However he has several really good traits that set him apart from the other candidates:
Then again if we appointed Darling captain for 2015, maybe he will inherit the same team success that our two other 22 year old captains had and really step up like they did (onfield only).
- He's a good public speaker
- Fans love him to bits
- Media loves him to bits
- Naitanui is always very positive and upbeat
- He is used to the media attention and doesn't really let it affect his game - anyone who expected 2012 from him this year is a moron and he has been building strongly without setting the world on fire despite the added scrutiny of the morons in the media.
- 2012 showed he was our most important player
- He leads by example on the field with some of his selfless acts, often sprinting from out of screen to block for players (seen in many of our best goals over the past 5 years)
- He seems to enjoy the spotlight and the pressure that comes with it. I find that it brings out the best in him. Somehow someway he is always there when it matters. This is an attribute that great players and leaders have.
When thinking about it i really like the idea of Nic Nat being captain. But he would have to show this year he is over his injuries.
Darling would be a good choice except his media skills are terrible!
