Porps shoulders another injury?

It hasnt done any further damage and doctors say it wont, Jason is happy to play and he knows his body the best. I dont see a problem

Nobody is questioning that he can play with this current injury. The big question is SHOULD he play? Tell me where the logic is knowing that you are taking a player into a game who "probably" will dislocate his shoulder at any stage of the game? What if he dislocates it when he runs through the banner and they can't get it back in? We are then 1 man short for rotations. There is absolutely NO logic in it at all. So while it's all well and good for the scientists and surgeons to say he can do no further damage to the shoulder, they don't then say the strain that this could place on the rest of the TEAM, should it pop out and not be able to get it back in. Not that hard when you really think about it.

I know next to nothing of the physiology of the shoulder joint, but doesn't there come a point at which permanent damage can be a result?

Apparently not with shoulder dislocations.

The joint has suffered the most damage that it will incur, they only happen more frequently due to the muscles surrounding the joint stretching and becoming more used to the dislocated shoulder.

I play basketball with a guy and it pops out of him every game pretty much, after a couple of seconds of pain it's fine, just a bit of soreness.

Will need surgery, but I think we'd already have the dat booked with the doctor as the day after we're no longer part of the season of 2008.

risk... is the main problem; if it pops out and is unable to be popped back in (like last time...i forget which team we were playing, probably collingwood)...then the crows become 1 man down.

Actually I am a glass half full kind of gal! To me, we bring in the injured Porps and displace someone else who is not injured on the off chance he a) doesn't get injured and b) has a blinder and wins the game off his own shoulder. I'd rather go with the devil we know - particular in a MUST WIN game. But, if he DOES play, then I hope he proves me horribly wrong!

i made a reference to the Collingwood game, when Porpz shoulder came out again...and the docs weren't able to pop it back in for some reason that i can't remember (mentioned way back in another thread about the great man's shoulder). hence, he couldn't play out the game and the crows were 1-man short. he then missed the following round against Port and made a comeback against Sydney...and yes, he's popped his shoulder out every other game he's played after that, but luckily those times, they've been able to pop it back in.

...thus the risk i was implying.

i see...though i thought it was already that bad, back then...i'd still think there's a small risk nevertheless.
but anyway, Porpz will most likely play this week; all the luck to him for kicking some goals. it'd also be nice to see him out there again. ...and though very unlikely, i'd understand if they didn't play him.

Craig's determination to play Porplyzia comes down to two factors:

1) The main one being that we don't have many match-winners or goal kickers, so a quarter fit Porplyzia roaming around up forward is better value than a fully fit player with no idea or skill set to play that position.

2) I'm certain that Craig is sending a message to certain players on the Crows list about pushing your boundaries, finding out what you are capable of, about playing through pain, about persevering despite not having the perfect preparation etc.
