Where does she get off having a crack at Mark Harvey on Footy Classified?
FFS he's had one year in the job with an old list he inherited, started a clean-out of the players and the Footy Dept and by the end of the year had a cobbled together side of kids playing well enough to stomp Collingwood in round 22 and she's calling for his head already? Meanwhile Wallet Wallace into his 4th year has Richmond finishing 9th and is going great guns.

Disgracefully biased, uniformed, Vic centric drivel as usual. The sneering derision with which she writes off our club with a few ignorant sentences makes my blood boil.

Lyon mentioned the Rosich review and she gave a condescending laugh and said something along the lines of why don't they review the ones thing that's actually wrong which is the coach, Lyon said in a suprised voice, Mark Harvey? and she said well he's the reason they had such a bad year, Lyon said he's only had one year and she just sneered (literally) and said something that implied he's not up to it. Sorry I can't be more specific but I don't think I'm exaggerating. It was as dismissive and condescending a put down as I've heard all year.

Meh its her opinion on a side that won 5 games this season, I would expect a few of the journos to have a crack at Mark Harvey. I dont agree with her at all but with the season Harvey had he was always going to get some critisism.

Well if thats the case you'd expect some consistency, perhaps a slagging of Dean Bailey or John Worsfold?

West Coast have cleaned out their coaching and fitness staff, but lord help the brave soul who questions the ability to coach in the absence of a few players.

I agree with DBT, Harvey's season does deserve some critcism, but how hard would be to see some consistency.

What really makes my blood boil is not the criticism it's how uniformed it is. Anyone that actually WATCHED any our matches toward the end of the year would have seem we were playing with spirit and heart and playing genuinely competitive footy with a makeshift squad. FFS we ran her mob to the wire and they were in great form, at full strength on their home patch with everything to play for and we nearly had them.
It's just ignorant to say we are playing badly and it's the ignorance that makes me angry.

Tomorrow I won't even care, I'm just letting off steam.

Meh, Caro isn't exactly know as a bastion of impartiality. We had a bad year, we lost a lot of close games. Criticism is warranted. Harvey is currently on the right track with a list cleanout. Can't ask for much more.

Hands down funniest thing I'v read someone on here post.
Seriously though she was way outa line. I think it was less a snear of contempt and more one of "Hey I'm just throwin it out there" sort of thing. Gary actually seemed genuinally shocked. I guess it may be part of her job to be contentious but such a shallow and blase reasoning of Freos poor season seriously harms her credibility. It's the kinda thing I'd expect from an Eagles supporter on bay 13 or preteen finger pointing on the Dockers board(note this is not a jibe directed at Dockers supporters just the supporters we ALL have). Footy Confidential is a panel show that is fairly stuctured and deals with issues segment by segment, it showed a lack of proffesionalism to drop a bomb like that.... marginally related to the topic just before the break.

agreed.. caros role in the media is to use her 'contacts' to find out mainly administrative happenings of clubs.. not to wildly speculate about which coach should get the flick... everyone ese on the panel was like wtf?

Personally, I think Harvey had a poor first half to the season.
I just can not help but wonder what would have happened IF Pavlich did not hit the post against Geelong and the Dockers won.
I was sitting directly behind that shot for goal, it was such a shame.
BUT.. part of me thinks that the first half of the season paved the way for serious change.

The last half of the season was a massive improvement.

Personally, I like the way he never berates his players to the media (I'm sure as hell he tells them what he thinks behind closed doors).

As others have mentioned Caro and Hutchie are more tabloid journalists looking for the next big controversy rather than actually reporting on footy. I know some people don't like Mike Sheahan but atleast he genuinely is a footy fan and has some footy knowledge.

It's actually quite important that Harvey gets a fair go. The perception over east was that Connolly got a raw deal at the hands of the local media and Fremantle supporters in WA and was chased out of town. If Harvey doesn't get a proper shot at it then it's going to be very hard to find our next coach because it will be seen as a poisoned chalice.

Damm straight. I don't mind people constructively criticizing. If she'd acknowledged the improvement or made even the slightest attempt at a balanced comment I wouldn't have a problem with it. It was the offhand blanket dismissal of Harvey that got up my nose.

I cannot stand Fremantle fans who say this kind of crap.

Harvey did the one thing that CC would not do and that is shakeup the squad through retirements and the draft. He has generated an inner strength in the squad that is more team-orientated and with more focus.

Any coach that takes over in their first year, if they are worth anything will shake up the squad and change the game style. He did that and we are better for it.
