If Collingwood would just wear their traditional jumper - white with black stripes - there wouldn't be a clash.

There's a clash and St Kilda are the lower ranked club. The AFL made the right decision :thumbsu:

Bullshit, these two clubs have played against each other for over 100 years and there has never been a problem with the jumpers clashing.

Would Essendon supporters be happy if they were forced to wear a clash strip in a GF? No they wouldn't, you all piss and moan if you have to wear a clash strip in a normal H&A game.

This is typical heavy handedness by the AFL, stepping in and interfering when it isn't needed. St Kilda should tell them to piss off and wear their traditional jumpers, although they will probably then give the umpires a directive to try and make us lose.

so why wont you then? you wore that jumper for 100 years, and this one for only 10. Weve worn our home jumper for around 90 years in the AFL, and have only ever worn the other one about 10-15 times.

Disgraceful by the AFL.

I reckon the clash jumper is a worse clash because it reduces the amount of red (the only differing color) on the guernsey.

Probably would have been better to just go normal Saints jumper and white shorts.

Spot on - why do some Collingwood supporters have a problem with this??

The 'we finished higher' excuse doesnt cut it - Collingwood should be a big enough club to compromise on this - would allow both clubs to wear meaning jumpers!

This issue will build over the next two days.

Rightly so.

Foundation clubs...and we arnt even allowed to see them in the jumpers coz some administrators think we're all f'ken blind.

I'd be going into bat for Dons/Dees/Carlton or any of the foundation clubs...imagine the stink if Carlton had to wear their white number in a grannie..its coming one day.

Yeah faaaarrrrrkkeem i reckon...Aints should get shotguns out over it.

The thing that baffles me is. They are alowed to wear the traditional jumper on the dias if they win. It gets more ridiculas every time you read it. If i was st kikda i would just wear the traditional jumper and tell the afl to go cram it

On the claim that Collingwood "always" wore a white jumper with black stripes until they changed about 10 years ago...i always thought that our jumper, from about 1910 to the mid 1920's, was the same as it is now? With the white stripe down the middle??
I might be wrong though. In any case, it's not important.

I don't see why either club should have to change for the GF. The different coloured shorts should surely be enough.

And why, as some posters have been saying, should Collingwood offer to wear their clash strip first anyway?

I got no problem wearing our clash strip, i think saints should be able to wear their traditional strip on the biggest day of the year. if we were to win on saturday too they could sell that strip next year and make bucket loads of money.

When you're a minnow club you get treated like such.

PS- LOL @ the person who thinks St Kilda can afford to pay the 30k fine.

But you guys are experts at losing grand finals. ;)

FWIW, didn't Collingwood wear white shorts against the bulldogs a few weeks ago??? Whilst the dogs were all in blue.

Because the white strip is your traditional strip anyway, that way both clubs will play in their traditional strips.
