GREATER Western Sydney coach Kevin Sheedy may throw delisted Essendon ruckman Jason Laycock a lifeline in the rookie draft.

Ahhh Sheeds.

Can't say I blame him, really. Lazy had a fair amount of talent, though he doesn't have the intensity or mental toughness (or body) for AFL.

A rookie spot wouldn't be the worst thing.

Ohhhh poor GWS, you'd think he'd wanna prove that he stopped taking his unorthodox brilliance to too high a level.
It was great at a lower level, used to be unpredictable and hilarious, then he went outlandish and alternative with EVERY decision.

Laycock always had it in him - Just sometimes found it hard getting it out. Was never as much as he could of been.

I hope if he does end up in GWS that he gets himself right and makes something of the talent thats in him

He also must have really, really missed that Anzac day game. Laycock seemed to perform best when Hille injured himself mid game, or was off, as if he valued the pressure/dependency, similar to Ryder in Anzac Day 09. I think Laycock may be a great acquisition for GWS.

One thing I did notice about him, in a pre season game over here, was that he never demanded/presented for the ball as it was being carried through the middle, opting rather to create space etc. The effects of this are debatable, and there is a chance it was a ploy, but considering the pace and agility of the players we use to run the ball through the middle, an opposing ruckman would never really be a threat, and even though he had a relatively small frame, there's no reason he couldn't provide a decent shepherd.
