On player ability we should just about win the premiership however I think we are poorly coached.

Collingwood are obvious favourites but the Magpies aside there is not much opposition.

Expect Geelong and St Kilda to slide so positions in the top 4 will open up.

You have one elite player in your whole side in Judd and maybe one other fringe A grader in Murphy.

When I read your posts, I actually cringe.

Write them off at your own peril. I think they will take a step forward and finish in the top 4, they have too much talent to finish out of the 8, only thing that can destroy their season is the coaching staff or injuries IMO

The point is at least 7 clubs are not way as good as our team on any day. They either years behind in development and skills. No club can magically go bang bang and perform like a good side in a short period of years.Collingwood took nearly 10 years to get that flag after taking a dip for a year or 2 during those grand finals losses. Those bottom 6 clubs pretty much rebuilt from scratch the last couple of years or so.

At least 7? Please name them.

Well no offence they should be better then favorites for spoons Gold Coast for one followed by Brisbane,West Coast,Richmond,Melbourne,Essendon and Port Adelaide.I don't see none of those clubs realistically making a massive jump but if they do only 1 will.

Then their clubs like Sydney who played above themselves that haven't got Roos no more and a few of their stars of the past.Geelong and St Kilda may slide after many years trying and winning.

Collingwood will be the team to beat again. This only leaves Hawthorn who could improve if they have the hunger again and The Kangaroos if they have the list.Western Bulldogs have been up their a long time so not sure with them.Carlton and The Dockers in theory should be big movers but Dockers haven't put 2 years together yet but may.

Adelaide Crows is a mystery either do well or do really bad.I think they will be with a new coach as their coach has been around with no success for them in finals.

FYI to the OP and any Carlton fan saying "No way bottom 8"...

Reality is, Carlton can quite easily finish bottom 8, and can also finish bottom 5...

We haven't proven anything yet... at all...

You can look at Geelong 06 and Dogs 07 and see how good teams can finish very low because of things that just didn't go quite right

You can look at Hawks in 09... if people were to say in the 09 preseason Hawks to miss the 8... they'd get called a troll... but this is not a scripted competition... and reality is... Carlton can finish anywhere from 1st to 17th... and if someone thinks we're gonna struggle and not make the 8 or even finish 17th... they are welcome to have that opinion...

I do think, if everything goes well in terms of little injuries, the addition of ready players Curnow, Duigan and Laidler and development of Yarran, Garlett, Henderson, White, Lucas, Robinson and Armfield... we can finish top 4...

Not really a vast gulf between 6th and 11th most years; comes down a lot to injuries.

I underestimated your lot this time last year, and had you missing the finals.

Based on that I'm going to back you guys for slight improvement, finishing 6th and winning a final.

If they win a final, would Ratten keep his job?
