We don't know where the truth lies but I don't think the Bombers statement tells us that Robbo is wrong. Of course they will say publicly that they haven't conceded anything. What insiders might have told Robbo could be an entirely different thing. We have no way of knowing where the truth lies here. I was just pointing out that what Robbo said tonight conflicts with the Bombers public statement today.
Correct! It just tells us the two views don't accord. We don't know where the truth lies but I don't think the Bombers statement tells us that Robbo is wrong. Of course they will say publicly that they haven't conceded anything. What insiders might have told Robbo could be an entirely different thing.

And it's another game I have concerns about. Don't think the tit-for-tat here amongst the mature posters will have any influence though. Can they wrap this thing up so we can play Goddard and the draftees in a couple of weeks?

This whole drugs issue -the more you read -im coming to the conclusion that the so called recreational drugs are performance enhancing as well
I was reading what Dean Waters the ex boxer was saying -i think it was after the Sonny Bill Williams fight -where the opponent tested positive -i might be wrong there
But Dean Waters was saying -that methamhetamines is a great drug for a boxer-he said if you had a title fight -and you took methamhetamines -it gave you a feeling of invincibility -which was a great mindset for a boxer -didnt matter how good or big a reputation your opponnent had -you just thought youd knock him out. He said -you just had to take the right amount -he gave an example of some Commonwealth title holder -who took too much -and his arms couldnt keep up with his brain
This whole sorry drugs mess -they ought to ban any illegal drugs -the 3 strikes is pathetic -if you work in the mining industry -you are tested regularly-and if its a positive reading -your out on your arse -but thats the real world.
Efforts to penalise Bombers' players for using AOD9604 are likely to face legal challenges because the players were assured that it was WADA-compliant and no senior Essendon staff thought to get a second opinion.
Caro also wrote her own spin on this today http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/dons-outmuscle-ratten-20130501-2itct.htmlThanks for that HTR. Apart from how it will affect inter club relations, I thought the most telling para in that piece was:
"Efforts to penalise Bombers' players for using AOD9604 are likely to face legal challenges because the players were assured that it was WADA-compliant and no senior Essendon staff thought to get a second opinion."
This whole saga has a fair way to go yet.
The HS is all over the Charter story too. I'm not sure how much credibility that guy has. I quoted an 'Offsiders' comment by Gerard Whateley about him earlier in the thread.http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/biochemist-to-tell-all-on-peptides-20130501-2itcq.html
The biochemist who imported peptides linked to the AFL performance-enhancing drug scandal has promised to tell all to the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority when he is called to give evidence next week.
Shane Charter says he has agreed to give evidence and expects to be examined over two days. ''I will co-operate fully. I have nothing to hide and hope I can help them reach the right outcome,'' he said.
Charter said he had been told he would be examined on the nature of the peptides he imported from China, his knowledge of drug use by footballers, and his relationship with sports scientist Stephen Dank, who ran the Essendon supplement program in 2012 before he was sacked.
He would provide ASADA with a series of text messages and emails from Dank that he hopes will shed light on the program, he said.

Interesting times!

wonder if that game will be looked at by Geelong as a must-win elimination final given the current circumstances.
Footy public will suggest that Essendon would have won the 2013 flag if not for the punishment which is about to head their way but a win against them in a fortnights time...no excuses if we happened to win the flag as we can always say we defeated them and would have done so again in September.
(getting ahead of myself)
Two Carlton Football Club officials participated in a secret spying operation targeting the chemist who supplied Essendon's controversial supplement program. The two officials from the Blues' high-performance unit secretly recorded South Yarra chemist Nima Alavi - with one of the Carlton officials wearing a hidden wire - after Carlton was badly defeated by the Bombers early last season
You have no idea how thoroughly conflicted I am with the idea that it may be Carlton who starts hammering nails into Hirdy's career coffin...

The AFL could suspend the 6 players for bringing the game into disrepute before they even get to court, couldnt they?
Then whoever wins the flag gets it untainted, unless its Essendon.
Realistically they should as soon as the findings are released next week, as essendon have already admitted guilt.
But then they have also admitted that the whole team has taken the anti obesity drug too, so I can't see the afl suspending the whole team.
Surely they can't keep up the season they are having with all this going on - usually teams need everything to fall in to place & everything working like clockwork to win a flag....

Maybe they are still on the peptides..![]()
