I can see Smith becoming elite more than I can see Macrae getting there tbh. Know I'm almost alone in my views of Macrae though so don't expect many to agree.
I would be willing to trade this years 2nd round pick for your next years first round pick. OR I will trade x player to you and you give me your 2nd round pick this year IF x player finish in top 5 of your BnF OR finishes top 5 brownlow OR wins tuck medal we also get your 2nd round pick next year.I've seen a few folks suggesting this, but like any "futures" trading, it is high risk. Let's say we do a deal with Melbourne for their 1st rounder in 2014 (on 2013 form you'd expect a very early number), but Roosy pulls a rabbit out of the hat and they finish 5th (stop laughing it's hypothetical!), so we get #13. Why/How can you make a trade when the value of what you receive is unknown ? BTW, if that option became available, everybody would be wanting to trade with Richmond...![]()

And I definitely think Clay Smith will be a star. Was playing great footy before the injury. His kicking obviously needs improvement but he can kick goals and plays surprisingly well on the outside for a player labeled an inside mid with poor skills. Always thought of him as Kieran Jack type player. They have almost identical body types and game styles. They just look similar in their mannerisms.

Make sense?

Dudes. Sam Darley. How the hell is he at the Giants. Was he some sort of zone or special pick thing? Can't find any history.
Doesn't surprise me at all. I like him a lot. He makes a few mistakes but the knocks on his kicking are overstated IMO. He also kicks off both feet which goes largely unnoticed and importantly - he makes things happen.Agree. Anyone that was at this years B&F count will know that Smith was polling very well (8th-10th) all night until Wallis and Rough over took him after his injury against Dons.
Ps. Observers said an early Joel Selwood couldn't kick well, but he has made up for it since..
.
Smith is outstanding around goal (surprisingly). His form was good early, but tapered pretty badly through the guts of the season. Needs to seriously work on his decision making and hands as well as his disposal. Still a long way to go, but always worth a spot in the team with his mindless aggression at the footy. I'd Fn hate to play against the guy.Doesn't surprise me at all. I like him a lot. He makes a few mistakes but the knocks on his kicking are overstated IMO. I hope by "key" you mean "important" VD. Not sure I want clay playing out of the goalsquareSmith will become a key forward for us down the track
him and stringer will be bullies in the forward 50.

Yeah I'm not convinced his form did taper to a great degree. Similar things were said of Dahl during that period but I think there was a big defensive emphasis during that time and while neither was particularly prominent in the highlight reels, their work loads were demanding and work rates very high.Smith is outstanding around goal (surprisingly).
