If Everitt comes to us, of course we'll all back him in.

But not sure if it's a good move.

If he plays in defence: Jamison and Watson are ahead of him, and he'd really be fighting with Mciness/White/Laidler?/Duigan for that third tall spot.

I really hope that Laidler can remain in the game. Can't believe that he's fallen off the radar so much.

Everitt I'm pretty lukewarm on. Not sure what his role may be. Third club by 24 is not great signs. But hey, if we're not coughing up much, let's see what the club has in mind for him. He was a first rounder (there must be something there) and he's got really good size.

Yes, hope we haven't got him because of his height. He is not a contested mark, averaged 16 disposal per game in his best season (15 last year), takes a running bounce per game which shows he does like to run in space on the odd occasion, mostly an uncontested player, kicks a goal every 2-3 games, never got a Brownlow vote in 78 games. Does anybody know how he goes one on one?

I'll trust the club. We won't be paying much for him and I like the fact that players want to come to us. Erases some of the ghosts of trade weeks past.

I like the Everitt pick-up. I believe it is the kind of player that would suit Mick's plan. Can play 2nd/3rd tall back, 2nd/3rd tall forward and even up the ground.

It will give us more flexibility to change he and Hendo around to suit the situation. He is the kind of player that will allow for a Waite/Hendo combo in the forward line.

Whilst Watson is the better defender, Everitt is the more versatile and hence giving us that option to pick the team to suit the opposition. For cheap, we are making a really good decision here.

According to Wikipedia Alex Silvagni is a Full Back, Full Forward. Thought he was just a Full back?

Yeh, it's a good, solid, positive off-season. Thomas and Docherty's footskills marks a definite directional shift, you'd think. Everitt I'm pretty lukewarm on. Not sure what his role may be. ATM Everitt is playing the best footy of his career to date. Sydney have a habit of doing that to players with potential. His value is still low due to the number of games he has played and the reason he got a game... however he more than fulfilled his role and the fact that Sydney want to keep him is an indication that he does add to the team.

If we can pick up a player where other clubs had to wait whilst he is growing up and we pick him up on the cheap where he is cherry ripe, I will be happy

We fought hard to not give up the #32, it wouldn't make sense for us to just hand it over too readily now.........unless an absolute bargain became available.
Everitt is not that bargain though.

Just to remind people though that Salary Cap issues don't only pertain to this year.
There are some posters around the place suggesting that we're all topped up because of player a or player b, but we do have to remember that we do need to keep an eye on 2014 + 2015 also.
There are plenty of players that will be wanting more money next year and even if Judd does retire a lot of extra money will be needed for us to retain all those out of contract.

Getting Everitt would complete an excellent trade period for us. Mick may have designs on turning him into a key defender (given his size and athleticism) to release Henderson as the key forward.

As is the predictable pattern of these things I'm warming to Everitt. He's had a deceptively solid year and whilst we knew he was mobile he's plenty quick too. Don't like the idea of playing him forward though...looks a natural off the HBF

A lot of mock disgust at the idea if trading him for Lucas on the Sydney board.

Even if gws start to lose players, they will get good draft picks for them. They are certainties to win a flag in the next 5 years.

well they have so many top thirty picks in their squad that they can afford to lose a few unlike other teams in the AFL

and what is scary is when they lose one of them, they are able to get another top draft pick in return to top the list up again

Freeman would be a good fit if he gets through.

Hartung and Acres might fit this description. Would love a taller mid like Acres. I can see the need for a gutrunner and rover like Hartung after getting Thomas and Docherty. Endurance will be important with the interchange cap and sub rule.

Reckon we'd have Everitt earmarked for the Westhoff type forward role. Roam around half forward and sometimes higher to use the height and athleticism to his advantage. Drift further forward if he gets a smaller opponent mismatch.

Still can't see where we're going to get a KPP from in this period. Not sure McCarthy is the right way to go - appears a 3-4 year proposition but does have potential. Hourigan at 32 should be our go. Midfielder (Freeman/Salem/Crouch) at 13 and needs basis (ruck, inside mid slider, KPD) at 51/69/rookie draft.
