This is my first post in this thread, to my surprise.

Tomorrow is the first real home game for the Redbacks. Given I am currently (1) in possession of a member's pass and (2) unemployed, I will be visiting the ground to cheer on the mighty Redbacks for much of the day.

If the ground is as far along as I think, I will walk around and take photos and give you all, my adoring fans, an idea of what it looks like. I will then using my vast knowledge of superior stadium design*, tell you what I think about the facilities.

*I've just been to Metlife Stadium in NJ (opened April 2010, capacity 82K) and the Barclays Centre in NY (opened September 2012, capacity ~ 18,000), so they're both brand spanking new relatively, I'll judge them against that.

Only the western stand the northern hill will be open. Also, I think it'll be hard to gauge the new facilities until the entire thing is completed.

You can get a feel for what it will look like, but I think it'd be unfair to grade it based on its current state.

I will be popping down though.

They refused to penalise Sydney for paying double the salary cap for so long that everyone else got bored of their tainted wins all the time, and the Kings went broke. Poorly managed league.

so so much this.
When the nbl FINALLY got prime-time tv slots ( 8.30 sat nights ) it was the ****ing Kings every week

Probably too many clouds to tell but I would be interested to know what kind of shadow the new stands cast on the ground? with all our day games are we going to have half the ground in darkness or is it pretty good?

Good to hear the powerpuff cheer squad apparently went to the Sheffield Shield opening game on the new AO and started a power chant to claim a 1st ownership on the oval..
Oh they provide the lulz. Insecure much?

I see they are there with the streamers out, obviously trying to claim it and make their mark on the stadium early, hopefully the SMA can clean it off before we arrive.

Now I'm just hoping there wont be any news footage of any choirs out the front singing the Crows song.

Well it's not like they have anywhere else to be...

To quote a certain former Prime Minister, perhaps they need to...

and lol, just realised this

Nov 13 - 16, West End Redbacks v Alcohol Think Again Western Warriors, Live from the Adelaide Oval.

Carlton Draught have it covered both ways with their sponsorship of the sub. Wayne Phillips tellling me to think about subbing a softie for a beer really annoys me.

i saw that too - laughed inappropriately! :)

Went to the first session today to get a feel for the ground. I never thought I would see such a cauldron in sleepy old Adelaide. It will have massively more atmosphere than AAMI ever did, although (and the traditionalists will flame me for this) I found the northern end very much an anachronism compared tot he rest of the stadium. I was originally not in favour of the redevelopment, but having seen what has been done so far, I now think the stadium would have been better with a stand at the northern end of the same design as the Southern Stand.

It certainly is more a a coliseum atmosphere than AAMI had, which was an open bowl. Adelaide Oval has much steeper stands and you really feel like you are on top of the play, unlike AAMI where the stands were shallower and you felt further away from the play. I tried several spots in the Members stand and I found the best place to watch was from the concourse of the 2nd level where I felt right on top of the play.

Couldn't take any pics as I forgot my phone  but I think the viewing experience at Adelaide Oval will be 2nd to none.
