With Johnson und McPharlin out fort some time now only Sandi left with a chance from Freo. And perhaps Fyfe when he and the team have a huge finish to the season, otherwise he will probably only make the squad again...

B: M.Hibberd, A.Carlile, N.Malceski
HB: K.Simpson, C.Hooker, D.Swallow
C: S.Pendlebury, J.Kennedy, T.Boak
HF: D.Beams, N.Riewoldt, R.Gray
F: L.Bruest, T.Hawkins, L.Parker
R: A.Sandilands, J.Selwood, G.Ablett
I: T.Rockliff, P.Dangerfield, B.Harvey, N.Jones

Boak and Dangerfield would not make the team based on their performances thus far. N Riewoldt has also dropped off after starting the season strong and Hawkins has had some pretty average games as well.

Who replaces Riewoldt? He and Hawkins are easily the two best performed KPF's to date.

This year is pretty weak for big forwards.
People have been saying that for the past six years. The game has changed. Big forwards aren't given as much space to lead into. They aren't allowed to dominate their opponent one on one. Every team focuses on defending like never before, so forwards have to be cleverer and more team-oriented than ever before.

Stopping the opposition has become the number one priority for coaches, whereas in the past, the focus was more about scoring goals. The most recent attack-minded coaches I can remember were Matthew Knights and Brett Ratten and both of them were sacked.

Even in the past few years you had guys like Cloke, Pav, Riewoldt, Franklin etc. kicking goals and looking ominous in their respective forward lines. This year, however, there isn't really any KPFs that have been consistently good. Most are down on form and guys like Gunston and Bruest are kicking just as many goals (whilst contributing more around the ground).

The lack of Wingard is in this thread is unbelievable

Also on Boak: He would be around about, but he would want to have a strong end to the season. Would only be on the bench atm
I'm not sure I'd have Wingard in and I'm a Port supporter.
Too much stop start so far this year and apart from last week's game not enough midfield time compared to laat year. Due to him carrying injuries no doubt but still a notch down on laat year. Having said that more time up front will mean more goals.

From Port gray is the standout and if he hadn't missed games so too would have been Jonas who is by far our best defender.
Carlile, Trengove, Boak and Hartlett will have their names thrown around AA week but so far from Port Gray is the only certainty.

Meh, Riewoldt has had like 2 off games all year. He's been a colossus for us.
Agree.

Stephen Hill is having a fantastic year.
I'd say he's been our best performer this year...Very consistent and damaging by foot.
More so than Dangerfield for instance
Well, I think he lost a lot of his high profile in public. Those players hardly get selected...

Agreed, Gray is in easily before Wingard. Think Wingard has those special game breaking moments but Gray has been much more consistent and Breust has probably been the best small fwd so its those 2 in.
I would have no trouble with Jonas in either, having a blinder of a season down back for u boys

i have both boak and dangerfield in my top 8 for the brownlow atm so had to include them, i'd say boak is more justifiable than selwood for example.

what key forwards would you have ahead of Riewoldt and Hawkins? Couldn't be Jack, Schulz surely so that leaves just buddy who had more bad games than riewoldt and maybe roughhead, who i'd have on par with Hawkins.

Heath Shaw. (Easily can slot Hibberd into the back pocket and Michael Johnson onto the back flank.
Jamie Elliot. Had a good season but Luke Parker should have dibs ahead of him. And B. Harvey.
Matthew Priddis. Another rock-solid season from the veteran but Tom Rockliff should be a lock for this.
Kieren Jack. Can consider himself lucky to have a spot ahead of Boak/Ebert.
Nathan Jones. Like Priddis a good honest toiler but he's not AA. Again Boak/Ebert/Bartel/Heppell all have claims ahead of him.
Michael Johnson. In plenty of cases positions barely matter but down the spine they do and Johnson is not an AA CHB. Put Hooker to CHB, slide Thompson to FB and Johnson across to the flank.

Jesus christ. ****ing Matthew Priddis

Has gone up another level above and beyond his 2013 and would be second only to Gray - who has been otherworldly - in our B&F.

Would be exceedingly stiff to miss if the team was named tomorrow.

Nathan Jones I having a massive year. He is sitting 6th in the Coaches Assoc. player of the year in a team that has only won 3 games. Also 4th in the Lou Richards POY award, and is top 10 for disposals and clearances.

I would argue that he would be ahead of Ebert/Bartel/Heppell and would be battling it out with Boak for a spot in the team
