Liberatore isn't good enough to be the best player in the game. Neither is macrae neither is bontempelli. Do u know anything bout Aussie rules football?!?
Yet all three would quite easily be your best young midfielder. Sad times to be a weagles supporter.

Not as much as I know about spelling, grammar and punctuation admittedly. We all have our strengths and weaknesses.

No idea who would be the Very Best but I have some names at Collingwood I think that would be very good players.

Carlisle is probably the best overhead mark in the competition, unless you double/triple team him he will be extremely difficult to stop.

He's on a high at the moment but he will eventually fall back to earth.
Travis Cloke was lauded as the best contested mark in the competition for a few years. Now he had trouble taking uncontested chest marks.

What's the definition of "Best Player" anyway?
A player that is the best at his position?
A player that is the best overall?
A player that is the most valuable for the team?

Which of these does Gary Ablett come under now? That's the definition.

Tom Lynch from the Suns.

Sam Day will be a beast.

Casboult has the best hands and is a man mountain, but isn't an elite talent.

One of these two will be. And if he isn't... the other will be ;)

Obviously it's the BF way in these types of threads- to insert your own clubs most promising player(s).

But by my count, that's the 8th Dyson Heppell mention thus far. All by Essendon fans. And not a single mention by a neutral. Not even by the poster who just put forward a (very solid) list of 20-30 players a few pages back.

I really like Heppell BTW, but like everyone else it seems I can't see him ever getting close to progressing to the heights of 'best in the comp'. Will be a bloody good player though no doubt, and would still have him at Hawthorn in a heartbeat.

For mine, you can't go past Fyfe based on what we've seen / know about him. Danger too, unless he continues on the same trajectory and by then has the cognitive functioning of a late-career Mohammed Ali.

I think everything you say is fair and reasonable and I pretty much agree except for the fact that he just keeps being better than I expect.

If I was to throw one out there, wouldn't surprise me if it was Harley Bennell. When he puts it altogether, look out! Reminds me so much of Peter Matera
