Sorry, its early and my caffeine fix has not kicked in. Please explain.

Was in regard to this:
Apparently Dangers mother and aunty both work for Frank Costa (ex Geelong president) and he said he believed Danger would go to Geelong.
Just imagine how annoying this will be around August.

Will supporters turn on Danger if he goes? Is going to only Geelong an acceptable bitter pill to swallow but regrettable loss?

I mean if he went to Freo or Sydney, I think BF posters will hunt him down.:p
No, I wouldn't "turn" on him as such - he's an oppo player though.

I feel pretty comfortable with where the club is at right now, it may still take a while to rebuild on field culture - but if he doesn't want to be a part of that - just go.

Move on

We don't have to like it if he goes, but turning on him would simply be ridiculous considering the changing nature of player contracts. It won't be long before teams will have players on short term loan from other AFL clubs if things over time go as I expect them to.

The sooner we realise players are like any business in that they fully have the right to pursue what's in their best interests both money-wise and conditions-wise, the better. The AFL will have to implement policies soon to regulate what I suspect will become much more freedom of player movement between clubs. Eventually it will be commonplace to farewell a player part way through a season without getting all huffy about it, not in the next couple/few years, but soon enough.

Much as was with Tippett, if Danger decides to accept an offer from Geelong I will be disappointed but will get over it. If he is lured to Hawthorn with promises of a flag or to Carlton by a fat cheque and captaincy I will hate him for a lot longer.

That being said I am way more confident than I was with Tippett that he will stay.

There was never a consencious in the Media that either Cloke or Walker were gone. They were more sure Boak was gone, and if you knew how close he was to leaving you wouldnt be surprised.

There was a lot more discussion about Cloke going to Carlton and talk about Walker to GWS than there ever was about Beams.

Honestly, you're either a troll or deeply depressive.

so glad Tex is captain, just terrible comments by sloane recently, needs to understand what loyalty means and stop crying poor.
If Danger and Sloane go for money we will find others players to replace them...

What was wrong with what Sloane said?

The system is moving more and more toward rewarding players for not being loyal. For loyal players that has to be a kick in the guts. I think it's a great idea to bring in something to reward the loyal players too.

He's not crying poor, he's saying the disloyal players shouldn't be the ones who are rewarded financially.

i know footballers aren't the smartest beings going around but asking for more money to stay loyal is probably the funniest thing i have heard a footballer say for a long time.
I just luv people like Tex.

The thing is that the system now is slanted towards disloyalty. It is the players leaving that are getting big $. I don't see a problem with wanting to even that up a bit.

It's like when I used to work with smokers, and they got an extra 5-10 minute break every hour when they went out for a cigarette. Now, I don't think I need a reward for not smoking, but would have definitely welcomed something to make it a bit fairer.

There was 2 ways to read Sloaneys comments. One way of reading the situation would be that he has no choice but to leave given the enormous disparity between what he can earn if he stays or accepts an offer. Maybe he is uncomfortable having to accept an offer he cant refuse but feels he wouldn't be doing the right thing by his family for refusing?

Good point - have a bad feeling Saints have landed with a grandfather offer that's rocked his landscape.

if he wants more money then go i have no issue, but dont ask for more money from afc in order to be seen as 'loyal'

Around August we'll be discussing whether it's better to finish 4th and play away with the double chance or at home in an elimination final. Danger will take a back seat for a few weeks.

How loyal would you be for 2 million bucks?

Correct.

Its reckless to not think what is the best financial decision for me and my family. Boyd should hopefully have secured the rest of his life with the Dogs contract.

This is why I believe that once players are eligible for restricted free agency, they should also be eligible to go on the veterans list for their current club. Unless it's changed again, I think that means they can be paid an extra $100k outside the cap.
