So according to the Geelong CEO, Frawley chose us over the Cats partly due to our training facilities.

That begs the question, how bad our the Cat's facilities? If we, according to Newbold, are behind in our facilities and hence looking elsewhere, where are the cats?

Maybe it was our plans to upgrade, rather than the current facilities. Although I can recall that not too long ago, the Waverly facility was considered state-of-the-art.

The problem with the Cats training facilities is that they are in Geelong.

One would argue that applies to most of the facilities in Geelong.

And I suppose the Geelong CEO is going to admit it's because they're on the slide and no longer a destination club?

The facilities didn't stop Rivers from choosing them.

Haha Geelong is a destination club alright. Good culture & a history of success.

Frawley choosing us over Geelong wouldn't have been like choosing between a glorious utopia and a midden heap, I'd say it would have been a good deal for Frawley whatever choice he made.

Gee the AFL and by extension the game is $hit imo .....lies, cover ups and spin doctors are now common to most story's that arise..... the AFL are a disgrace atm..

Could not agree more. Good thing the on field product is relatively sound and popular with the people or they would have been done a long time ago.

I doubt he cared too much about the facilities. That's just some crap to run in the media.

What does anyone see when they look at the HFC? They see the most successful side of the modern era, and a rising giant in the AFL landscape that will challenge again for the flag.

It's not a very hard sell.

Good to learn that Don Scott was at the Hawks Hall of Fame induction. An important figure who contributed significantly into who we are now.

I remember in his interview with Mike Sheehan recently he sounded like he just wanted to stay away from the establishment (not sure whether that was AFL or Hawthorn FC or both) because he did not like how things have changed with how the game was being run these days.

Read from some other poster that Frawley said Melbourne's facilities were better than ours???

Did he mention that Melbourne's facilities lack anny premiershhip cups from his lifetime?

We would be the Melbourne Hawks without Don.
A very sincere thanks to Don, from myself and my 91 y.o. father.

Exactly, the question is not why would you go to Hawthorn, it's why wouldn't you?

Something else Frawley was sold is that with Brian Lake struggling to play a full season and likely to retire, he has been sold that he is the missing link in our potential success from 2016 onwards...

Yes, all part of the charm.

It most likely means we listened, and we did a lot of work to mend the relationship.

I hope for Don's sake that he got a lot of enjoyment out of the club last year.

Re watching the Port prelim and I just can not fathom how any rational human being says we robbed them. They got a bloody great run with the umpires in the last as brutal as their last ten minutes were.

Mate...Your trying to sell ice-cubes to eskimo's on that one!;)
