So have some of Melbourne's weather forecasts...I think people are well within their right to question this random new poster. The reason I prefer LM's view over this guy who lost his password, is LM has been a part of this forum longer, and some of his rumours have proven accurate, giving him some sense of credibility.
It's interesting for him to declare that no other clubs were in the hunt for Shiel's services don't you think? I'll give him one thing, it seems if he does stay at GWS he'll only sign a 2 year extension then come home
Credit where credit is due....I've just had a conversation with my contact and Shiel will in fact sign for another 2 years with GWS, down from the 3 years I was told last week.
Interesting to also hear that the AFL was entertaining Shiel's parents over the weekend!
I can only pass on what I'm told and I think this actually tells you a lot about Dylan Shiel and the way he values success.
Now can I go back to my wishful thinking of landing Danger after his brilliant game on the weekend?
I won't give up "hope" of this one until he puts pen to paper with, well....someone!

Try and work it out. The AFL salary cap this year is $10,071,000 and the Giants have an extra $880,000 to spend this year according to their initial entry conditions. They may also have another extra $1 million due to what used to be known as the cost of living allowence but is now simply called the expansion allowence. Perhaps that is one in the same thing but if it's not that would mean the Giants have nearly $2 million more to spend this year than any other team in the AFL, with the exception of the Swans. So try to work it out. Here are some of the reported figures I have seen of their players:Hoskin-Elliot re-signed for 2 years

Damn, was hoping we could land him. Rate him very highly!Credit where credit is due....I've just had a conversation with my contact and Shiel will in fact sign for another 2 years with GWS, down from the 3 years I was told last week.

There have been rumours for a while that Treloar/Shiel will go back to Victoria and Coniglio will go home to WA but I think it would be a stretch to say the Giants can't afford to keep all three. An extra $1-2 million is a huge advantage when it comes to player retention. Next year might be a different story with Ward and Mumford coming off contract. Whitfield is off contract next year and their cap situation should be more strained then than it is now.if you also add in treloar and shiel on big coin $6-7-800k per year, and also consider that they have other highly rated draft picks patton, whitfield, coniglio, kelly, surely they will continue to lose 2-3 good young kids each year for the next few years? if treloar and shiel both sign i'm tipping coniglio will be moved on.
Does this mean Whitfield comes back onto the radar for Hawthorn?Credit where credit is due....I've just had a conversation with my contact and Shiel will in fact sign for another 2 years with GWS, down from the 3 years I was told last week.

It has to be getting that way Steve.
Barrett said on TFS last week that they upped their offer to Treloer to $750k for 5 years....now Shiel along with many other big contracts up there.
For memory the Bulldogs are still paying some of Griffen's salary which probably helps things a little.
Caleb Marchbank would be a nice young KPP if you are listening Wrighty![]()
Must admit was wrong to say it was complete rubbish, but from what I've heard there were 4 or so clubs in the hunt being Richmond, Carlton, St Kilda and Hawthorn in saying that it does look like he's going to sign that 2 year deal then hopefully comes homeCredit where credit is due....I've just had a conversation with my contact and Shiel will in fact sign for another 2 years with GWS, down from the 3 years I was told last week.

Sorry to intrude Hawks fans, would just like to point out that those figures were once accurate, but not anymore.Try and work it out. Here are some of the reported figures I have seen of their players:
Scully - 800,000 a year
Shaw - 800,000 a year
Ward - 800,000 a year
Griffen - 700,000 a year
Davis - 700,000 a year
Mumford - 650,000 a year
Then you have Cameron who is probably going to earn around $1 million from next year onward and Patfull would be on decent money. You're probably looking at about $5 million being spent on their 8-10 highest paid players. That would normally leave $5 million over to pay your other 30 odd players but in the Giants case they could have up to $7 million to spend on the other players. Is $7 million enough to re-sign those other players? It probably is. No doubt the AFL is probably topping up Cameron's contract with ambassadorial dollars so that's another factor to take into account here. So Cameron may be earning an estimated million each year but how much of that is actually going towards their salary cap? Probably something we'll never know. Plus, why would these guys that have done the hard years in west Sydney want to leave now? It's pretty obvious they are on the cusp of something great and winning always makes things easier when you play football.
Every Melbourne club can make an offer and "be in the hunt"Must admit was wrong to say it was complete rubbish, but from what I've heard there were 4 or so clubs in the hunt being Richmond, Carlton, St Kilda and Hawthorn in saying that it does look like he's going to sign that 2 year deal then hopefully comes home
If you miss out on Shiel, Whitfield is the next one to target. Saw a bit of him on Sat night. He is all class.
Everyone will be after him next year.If you miss out on Shiel, Whitfield is the next one to target. Saw a bit of him on Sat night. He is all class.
No-one is as bad as Matt Thompson, or "********", as Clarko likes to call him!I put this guy in the same category as Hutchy, Steveo and Matt Thompson, so take it with a grain of salt...
@TomBrowne7: I've reported Sloane .@Adelaide_FC deal essentially done, still no announcement, and sources keep suggesting .@HawthornFC has made big play
@TomBrowne7: It'll be interesting to see what transpires, .@HawthornFC with list profile could definitely use Sloane #afl

That's interesting. So Ward, your captain, is on $300,000? He'll be asking for a big pay rise next year along with Mummy. That deal you cut with the Dogs for Griffen is looking like a very smart trade now if you're only paying him $330,000 a year. Davis on $570,000 seems legit. Scully is an interesting one. He actually seems to be kicking on this year so I would think he'll get more than $300,000 when he signs his next contract. Any idea what Patfull is on? Anyway, point was, the Giants should have enough cap room to fend off potential suitors this year.Sorry to intrude Hawks fans, would just like to point out that those figures were once accurate, but not anymore.
Scully is on about $300,000 this year. His contract was massively front loaded. Same as Ward's. Shaw is spot on and Griffen costs us $330,000 a year. Bulldogs pick up the rest. Davis is also over-valued here by $130,000.
Don't let others stop youThought I should probably post something in relation to the way the Dylan Shiel talk is going on this thread.
I am well within my rights not to divulge my contact/s who has told me about Dylan's conundrum as I have nothing to gain from doing so but a hell of a lot to lose. My credibility on Bigfooty means zero to me on this scale. In all honesty I probably should have held my cards closer to my chest on this one such is the respect I have for the providing source. What I post on this topic is not my opinion or wishful thinking but rather what I deem very valuable information around these parts.
I post updates on where the kid is at for posters to view and comment on as I believe the information I am getting to be true at the time I post it and couldn't help myself in sharing with you all.
I have mentioned in these forums numerous times before that I have close contacts with the Dandenong Stingrays, all of which I will not name for obvious reasons.
I have no problem with debutant or team of the century bigfooty posters debating/doubting my comments. Make of them what you will but do ask yourself where you heard your information and where I might be getting mine from before rubbishing my posts.
Cheers
LM
