I think with the increased player movement. We might see Brisbane being this active in trade week to be the norm. Trrade out second and third round picks for guys that are a few years into the system, have shown promise and look like they can improve but are happy to come to Brisbane to ply their trade. Bundled up with some first round quality academy kids it could just be a pretty good strategy.

Just a reminder that JasRulz63 (thanks buddy!) and myself are posting Lions related trade stories in this thread if you want to keep up with the news but aren't in the mood for Simpsons gifs.

Yep that's it. Casboult has a rancid ball drop. At 25 there is a big question mark over that being coached out of his game. Walker has more potential for development, is cheap and is willing to come to us in search of more senior opportunities. 19 goals this year in his 16 games- it's not out of the question that he kicks 25-30 as well as taking the heat off some of the more under developed boys down there.
I guess we can grab Casboult in 12 months time for a 3rd round pick

In 12 months time the likes of Schache, McStay, Close, Walker and Freeman will be showing enough to back our own development in. This trade period we need a mature body to take some heat like McGuane did later in the year. Walker shapes as the most affordable, readily available option that might just develop into that consistent second forward type that he showed promisng signs of becoming this year.

Future picks can't be on-traded?

Our future picks can't be on-traded because we already used a future first-rounder to get Henderson. Once you trade a future first-rounder, you can't trade any more picks from that draft. We could only use it to get Smith if Brisbane traded the pick to GC.

Ah yeah, forgot that. Bit funny it applies to other clubs' picks, but I'm sure they didn't write the rules perfectly given how many updates we had throughout the year.

He couldnt get a game at Richmond. Think about that sentence. 3rd rounder at best. Pick 21 was what we got for Patfull last year a 2 times b and f and got Christensen with.
Stuck behind a AA fullback, if we can get it done for 39 even better, he would play in our best 22 round 1.

[Bastinac sees the Gabba gym under water]
bastinac: Good Lord, what is happening in there?
Greg Swann: The Aurora Borealis?
Bastinac: The Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within your weights room?
Swann: Yes.
Bastinac: May I see it?
Swann: No.

This is brilliant.

There really is a Simpsons GIF for every situation.

Yup. Essentially, he's a younger and less injury prone replacement for Staker or McGuane.

Walker will help us. Walker Freeman and Scheche up forward with McStay as a swing man looks better already. If close can get himself more involved than we start having a bit of deph.

Not by us because we have already traded our 2016 1st rnd. I think you have to trade it to gc for us.

On an unrelated note next Weds 21 October 2015 is the future day in Back to the Future! BYO Hoover board!

Crap compo pick but time to move on...
(Sorry, late of the party on this one).

I think the AFL should have flagged much earlier that the compo would much harsher this year which has obviously blindsided the club. That said, it can only be good for player movement - if we had known in advance we were only going to get pick 39 we would probably have already signed Suckling and Whitecross (and that's the part that sucks the most so far in this trade period). So the learning going forward is that unless we're losing the likes of Rockliff as a free agent the don't bank on the compo being equitable - sign up whatever free agents we want without concern for the impact on incoming compo picks. Greater player movement is what FA is all about anyway - the compo pick becomes totally secondary... like a "sorry you couldn't get any FA's to your club this season, hear have a draft pick instead".
