Weller was off the table when they discussed McCarthy as GWS showed interest. If you were going to ask, you'd leave it late and force them into a panicked ultimatum.

What can we expect in the week ahead,

Aish:
In a 3 way deal between Coll, Carl and Bris it seems Aish will get to his desired destination. Bris will receive Tom Bell and pick 24, the Pies Aish and Carl getting pick 26.
North are still hopeful with and offer of Bastinac with picks 38 and 40, but Aish seems unlikely to consider options other than the Pies.

McCarthy:
Fremantle has finally come to the plate with an offer for GWS. Pick 22 and a 2016 1st round pick may however not be enough for GWS to release McCarthy. Freo may have to look at trading a player to make a stronger offer. Hello Mr.Weller!!

Bastinac:
Seems likely to be off to Bris in one of many possible deals. North are still hoping it will be part of a trade for Aish. Other options include being part of a combination of pick swaps to have 17 and/or 21 heading Norths way. Pick 24/26 may also enter the equasion.

Black:
Went to Syd to have a peek around after Freo seemed more interested in McCarthy. May be part of an upgrade to get North back into the 1st round of the draft.

Dan Currie:
Seems to be off for a 3rd round pick to GC either 43 or possibly 50 as part of the Dixon deal. Lets hope this goes quickly as North would no doubt like to move that pick on as part of other deals.

Treloar:
Looks done for pick 7 and a 2016 first, with a 2016 2nd coming back to the Pies. May be some loose change around the edges to smooth the deal.

Pick 7+8:
Once Treloar drops its fire sale time for GWS, with many clubs eager to trade picks for points to secure these picks. Ess considering 23+25 for 8, North eyeing 34, 38, 40, 43 for 8+66, GC looking the likely option for both picks in a trade for pick 3 and 19. Allowing GWS to snare a young talent before committing to its academy players.

Syd pick 14, Bris picks 17,21:
These are the other top end picks teams will be scrambling to land. From a North perspective they could well come into potential trades with Basti and Black. How we combine all of this will be interesting to watch. North look very keen to re enter the 1st round.
Possibilities include:
Bastinac, 38, 40, 43 for picks 17,21 from Bris
and
Black and 34 for 14 from Syd
leaving North with
Picks 14, 17 and 21 heading into the draft.

As much as I dislike the Pies, we don't have the best reputation for developing and/or playing young talent. Hence why maybe Aish is so set on the Pies.

The Pies are developing a solid young squad.

While North and the Pies are at different stages in terms of premierships windows, the Pies play their young lads and let them make mistakes.

Us on the other hand, apart from Turner and Dumont, don't have much else and don't give them nearly enough game time

Hmmm no ones going to gaurantee him game time with his current form in the VFL injury related or not.
He cant expect any top 8-12 teams to promise him that. When his attitude in losing his spot in North's seniors stunk i'm sorry to say. Ur as good as ur last game and ur last year. Playing one good yr a few yrs back does'nt make him a Star..
