A couple of years back I was writing some software for a company who's main clients were insurance companies. The profit and loss graphs were staggeringly one sided. You know they are making a ton of cash, but I probably didn't expect it to be such a high profit margin.

If you don't take it within 30 seconds, the ATM will usually suck it back in, with no change to your account balance....It's happened to me on a good dozen occasions.

Ring up the branch....Give them your account details & ATM machine address & time of withdrawal.....They'll have it on CCTV....Sometimes it can take 48-72 hours for your account to right itself.......Especially if it happened on a Friday night.

My password at work was booooo for a while . It changed every couple of weeks had to add extra oooo's to it as the passwords expire for security reasons). Got it to booooooooooooooooooooooooo one point

Absent minded....Thinking about other things....Take your card & receipt out but forget the dosh....On the phone, old age.

I'm guessing that includes the TAC et al compulsory third party personal injury insurance though that everyone pays when they renew their rego here.

Yep. Covered for up to $2m. It's actually one of the more basic packages though. Oh well. Paid it yesterday.

I'm so paranoid at ATMs, myki machines and even self services about leaving anything behind that the idea of leaving your money is ridiculous to me

No....That's what the CCTV vision will corroborate....Hence the importance for remembering the time you were there...If you still have the transaction receipt, the time will be recorded on it.

If someone nabbed your dough, then your account won't be refunded...The CC vision will show if it was another person in line or just a passer-by. If it was another customer, next in-line, then if they accessed their account immediately following your transaction, then the bank can identify them.

More often than not, the money or card left in the machine will be redressed, as the buzzer sounds to warn you it's still there...If you don't retrieve it very quickly, then the machine will re-swallow them.
