We are showing great faith in him signing him for 5. Remember Bucks saying we don't like doing it with Cloke. But they don't come much more durable and reliable than Sidebottom.
Good deal, cheap, but not unreasonable. While Sidebottom will turn 30 before the final year of the contract starts he's the type that could play well beyond that.
I like that we're offering longer contracts, better for cap management, list stability and minimising free agency. Also has the added bonus of less conjecture.
So happy that loyalty exists. That's cheap if true. He would easily get 750k elsewhere

Well he not a Real Fast Runner so it won't Rare and Tare his Legs to Much.
Future Captain.
Gun.
Has Bottom in his last name.
Its what you want.
Sidebottom is the ideal player to give a longer contract on less money. He's a durable, younger player with elite endurance and a game which never relied on speed, in a competition which is reducing rotations.
$550,000 per year is a great deal really, if campaigners like Thomas and Beams are on $700,000+ then Sidebottom is worth that too.
I honestly don't watch the Tigers enough to comment on Martins game, but I'm pretty sure that burst speed was a major feature of Swans game through his prime (and still is to a certain extent), and endurance was never his major forte. So are Swan and Martin.
