Get as many draft picks for the following: Vickery, Batchelor, Kane Lambert, Taylor Hunt, Brett Deledio(10-15 draft pick), Shaun Grigg, Houli, Astbury, Edwards( 15-20 draft pick). The others we just get whatever draft picks we get and roll the dice. Other teams find a few gems in the 30 - 50 range, so can we.

I would be happy to put that on the park for round 1 next year, obviously a few variables there.( Hurley, what draft picks we get etc.) But something like this is the way forward.

If you had full control over what list we put out for round 1 ON FIELD, what would you do ?

Not a huge fan of Prestia but other than that I agree. I'd also upgrade Short to the main list. Also Marcon?

2. Grimes - pivotal part of the backline.
3. Deledio - Arguably our best and also most important player.
4. Martin - Superstar.
5. B. Ellis - Having an average year but is still only 22.
6. Grigg - still not rated by many but I like him. Should finish his career as a Tiger.
7. Lennon - think he'll get better as the years go on and has shown enough to prove that if he puts in the hard yards he'll make it.
8. Riewoldt - Superstar.
9. Cotchin - Having a great return to form at the moment.
10. Edwards - seems to be a little inconsistent but he's a huge asset when on.
11. Batchelor - hopefully there for just depth.
13. Yarran - can't wait to see him in Yellow and Black but it's been a bad look for us so far.
14. Houli - Has runs on the board.
16. Hampson - The surprise of 2016, in some really good form!
17. Rioli - Future gun.
18. Rance - Best defender in the AFL!
20. Maric - Let him choose whether to play on or not. He'll either go one more year or retire.
21. Townsend - Has a lot more potential than spud Moore and will get better in my opinion.
23. Lambert - I like him but I think if we're going to take our game to the next level he won't be in our best 22.
24. Griffiths - Showing improvement but can he find that consistency?
26. Miles - Part of our best 22.
27. Lloyd - Big improver and a proven goal kicker.
28. Hunt - Keep him for depth and injury crisis', keep him away from the backline but he's a decent tagger.
30. Conca - Still think he can make our midfield much better and turn into a good player, let's hope he stays injury free.
31. Markov - Good young talent who I hope breaks into the senior team sooner rather than later.
32. C. Ellis - Could be our Sam Mitchell.
33. McIntosh - Like him, his pace is more than welcome.
34. McBean - Still hopeful he'll make it, although 2017 may be his final chance.
35. Broad - Potential replacement for Batchelor.
36. C. Moore - Heard good things about him.
37. Menadue - Will be in our best 22 for a long time soon.
38. Morris - Solid depth and I'm gutted for his injury, was best 22.
39. Drummond - Hopeful for him.
41. Chol - We all love some Chol!
42. McKenzie - Give him another year but feel he may be delisted.
43. Elton - Don't know, but I have Chaplin and Astbury going so someone has to stay right?

That's 6 off the main list (7 if Short isn't upgraded) and 1 off the rookie list ( if Short is upgraded). Depending what picks we have left and who we trade in I'd upgrade C Moore and use only 1 live pick in the draft if we either don't rate this draft or we trade out all of our useful picks. That would leave us with 5 main list spots and 2 rookie spots.

Question re Astbury given we just seem to have picked up Hurley. Is there still life in him as a forward or swing man? Compared to TV - Sheesh, at least he competes, seems to read the play better, good in the air and will bring the ball to ground, second efforts, defensive pressure. The knock on him is slowness of mind and body and occasional brain fade, but no worse than TV right? Surely he can be at least as good as TV for 'structure'? Just a tad smaller.

When you say we seem to have picked up hurley are you implying that a deal is close to being or likely to be done? If yes, what's your source?

I'm not confident at all that Hurley will be at RFC next year.

if re evaluating the list the club must look to building a premiership list and only maintaining players good enough to contribute to a premiership and as sich IMO should only keep players with exposed form who have shown serious hurt factor at key moments .
griffiths, lloyd, Edwards , miles , Cotchin , lids , martin , reiwoldt, rance , yarran ( if health enables ) grimes and mcintosh have done enough .
conca , hampson, menadue , cellis , bellis ,rioli , chol, have shown glimpses and with the exception of bellis continue to improve.

if astbury aint going forward he joins the rest who should be on the dump heap.
