Mackenzie omitted again. If we missed on Hurley id be all over him. You don't lose your talent.
True but something must be wrong. Is it just that he's not enjoying his footy over there or is it something else?

Hurley is the only one on the radar that we'd have a shot at, the rest are purely wishful thinking.

Think he's a WA boy. Surely Freo have a dip and maybe offer them Barlow or something.

An I crazy, but surely if we can afford Hurley, we could afford Marchbank. He's a ten year key defender who is good enough to get a game for the Giants in only his second year. Hurley is 27, so you could only expect 3-4 good years from him and he hasn't been playing for 12 months.

He was injured all throughout his draft years and has been injured constantly since being drafted, well on the way to being another Vardy/Williams.

I love Eric Mackenzie fronk, but he has lost it was jelly on the plate
last week. You had to see it to believe it, Jonathon Hay bad.

He is like Morris mate

He shouldn't be allowed to kick coz he is no good at it and he isn't great at zoning.

I wouldn't mind him if he didn't cost too much definate upgrade on Roberts

Following that logic, Hawthorn should have drafted David Zaharakis over Stuey Dew. That happens and they probably miss out on a flag.

Hurley just turned 26 btw.

You guys are forgetting Collins as well.. He is a big lad, solid as a brick shit house.. He will come good in time

You can always find an example where the player comes in for a couple of years and helps a team win a flag, but there are plenty of examples of clubs getting players at their peak and then paying them lots of money to watch them decline. Eventually they player retires and there is no replacement because the club gave up draft picks 3-4 years earlier to get the player in the first place.

Getting a quality ten year defender sets up our spine for a decade. With Tom Boyd and a Stringer our forward line is looking ominous for a long time.

It's interesting though how often first and second year talks get injured before overcoming those injuries. Boyd, Patton, Hogan, McCartin, Moore, Daniher have all missed but chunks of there first two seasons with soft tissue injuries- is there a pattern here?

Mackenzie won the best and fairest the year that Priddis won the
Brownlow so in fairness he is a few rungs higher on the ladder
than Dale Morris is. He seems to have suffered being out of the
system for a year with his injury. On a side note the year Fyfe
smashed the Brownlow he finished fourth in the Freo best and
fairest. Pretty weird factoids for you.

Next year is our best chance to push for a flag imo. Retirement of Murphy, Boyd and Morris will hurt. Also Picken, Suckling, Dickson arent getting any younger. So yeah, Im happy to take arguably the best full back in the comp even if we only have him for 5-8 years. Whatever gives us the best chance for a flag next year then do it.

Saints have made a big offer to Hurley. Piss off! Purple saying Carlisle part of the pitch
