Its all good and great for JOM to say he wants to come to Hawthorn, but what are we going to give to the suns for him? He isnt a free agent, and although injury prone he's valuable.

Realistically we should have pick 15-18.. and what we get for Hill. This is probably just enough to get one of either Mitchell OR JOM.

I hate to play the part of Buzz-Killington, but anyone celebrating the potential news of them both wanting to come better start thinking of which.club.we can trade Breust, Burton or Isaac Smith to, to gain the required currency to land both.

We can also trade future picks also. We also may have to give up one of Shoey, O'Brien or Sciliy.

O'Meara, is valuable. However his latest set back is actually a blessing for us, as he is now at his lowest value. We could probably snag him for a future 1st and future 2nd/ O'Brien.

Then trade this years 1st plus what we get for Hill, for Mitchell and Future Sydney 2nd. Or something along those lines.

It is certainly doable.

If JOM nominates us then a first rounder plus a little extra will get it done

especially considering the knee and lack of games
I agree. I don't think O'Meara's trade value is much greater than Hill's. They are of a similar age, Hill has won 3 premierships and is durable. O'Meara's upside is much greater but there is a real risk he will never get his body right or simply not be the player he looked like becoming at 19. He has shown nothing in two years.

Provided he is not greedy salary wise, if he nominates us I think we will get a deal done relatively easily, probably involving Fremantle, Hill and a number of draft picks being exchanged.

Mitchell is the tougher one. His market value is higher given he's currently playing and the Swans will be reluctant to trade with us unless they also strengthen their side for 2017. It will almost certainly require another club to get involved.

I still struggle to see how we can afford both of them though unless they are both willing to take major unders.

What do you think will take to get Prestia then as opposed to Mitchell in terms of picks, salary wise, ease with which to trade with Suns opposed to Sydney ? I would have thought Prestia would be the better footballer with more speed.

Rumour is JD had a long chat with JOM about coming to Hawthorn would be in his best interests for both his footy career and also his media career post footy
Was mentioned on the draft and free agency thread, and also on the North board
One poster there said its a done deal JOM to Hawks

Would be lying if I said I didn't experience some movement after reading this.

If O'Meara and Mitchell come in, who comes off the list to accommodate them? Bearing in mind we need to clear at 3 additional spots for the draft. So a minimum of 5 (more likely 6 or even 7) faces need to go.

Brad Hill <-- Probable trade.
Angus Litherland <-- Probable trade bait.
Jermaine Miller-Lewis <-- Probable delisting
Lachlan Langford <-- Probable delisting.
Matthew Spangher <-- Probable delisting.
Zac Webster <-- Possible delisting
Jack Fitzpatrick <-- Possible delisting
Luke Surman <-- Possible delisting
Tim O'Brien <-- Possible trade bait.
Ryan Schoenmakers <-- Possible trade bait.
Shaun Burgoyne <-- Possible retirement
Jarryd Roughead <-- Will go on the LTI list at the very least.
Will Langford <-- Likely safe
Alex Woodward <-- You would anticipate that he would be given another year.
Josh Gibson <-- Possible retirement (unlikely)
Luke Hodge <-- Possible retirement (unlikely)

I'd be livid if we lost Schoey, even to bring in one of the premo-mids we're linked with. Is just so important to our future.

Would also be pretty disappointed if we moved on TOB. His last month was putrid, but I still have Gibbo's words ringing in my ear about his contested marking skillz. Definitely worth persevering with IMO.

Surman is staying.

What makes it all interesting is that schwass on triple m was very confident that Vickery to hawks was ON! Very active indeed.
Here's how hawks get who they want.
The Carlisle cash mostly still there.
Hill, spangher and
Gus were to leave then thats anothrr mill in the cap. Plus sluey of top enders retiring by 2017 and 2018 so back payment plans will be considered! Cant see why we cant do multiple trades like pies and cats have done!

I am not sure on the value of Vickery, but I did see him at the Melb V Hawks game dressed with a big jacket, beanie and dark glasses trying not to get noticed. He was sitting 3 rows in front of me (in the P seats behind the goals) and was sitting with a guy with Melbourne gear and 2 kids with hawks gear. I wonder if he was watching on with interest due to either Melbourne or Hawthorn making contact with him.

I was sitting right in front of you and my kids were sitting right behind him. Being an athletic spud the guy did have impeccable manners, as he wasn't going to sit in front of my kids before I said that I would shuffle around and that it was all sweet.

This is what I had them on in my humble and admittedly uninformed estimation.

Appreciate the effort but you cannot be serious
Those figures way out
Everyone under 22 you can take 50k off their figure..to start...

Edit
Base rookie wage entirely out of the cap also

Vickery to the Hawks is not as ludicrous as the idea of Cloke to the Hawks.
I am not suggesting that it will happen BUT
He is a restricted free agent so salary cap space may be all that is required.
He is only 26 and is a better forward than Ceglar or McEvoy.
He is an upgrade on Fitzpatrick who has has issues with concussion and missed a fair swag of the season.
He is 200 cm and can do some ruck work. If Ceglar or McEvoy miss we are left with Pittonet (too young) or Fitzpatrick ( reasonable tall forward but ordinary ruckman).
Tall marking forwards are scarce. Imagine Vickery as the KPF surrounded by Gunston, Sicily, Burton, Rioli, Breust and Poppy.
He is not a world beater but there are worse options around.

Didn't know about the rookie wage. Thanks for feedback. When you say "base rookie", who on our list exactly is that? I will update it. I have attached the xml spreadsheet to this post. Feel free to have a crack at it. It's quite a challenging exercise.

Edit:
First-round draftees receive a base of $74,740 in their first season.
Second-round draftees receive a base of $67,935 in their first season.
Third-round draftees receive a base of $64,395 in their first season.

.... so it's difficult/impossible to cut the 50k from most of the players you are suggesting.

Under 22yo players:
James Sicily (21) $100,000 (-$50k)
Dan Howe (20) $100,000 (-$50k)
Blake Hardwick (19) ~$70,000 (-$30k)
Kieran Lovell (19) ~$70,000 (-$30k)
Ryan Burton (19) ~$70,000 (-$30k)
Marc Pittonet (20) ~$70,000 (-$30k)
Kurt Heatherley (21) $50,000 (-$50k)
Dallas Willsmore (21) $50,000 (-$50k)

Saving: $320,000

Rookies:
Jermaine Miller-Lewis (20) ~$60,000
Kade Stewart (20) ~$60,000
Luke Surman (20) ~$60,000
Lachlan Langford (20) ~$60,000

Saving: $240,000 (Total saving $560,000)

Might be some Hale-esque untapped potential as a fwd/2nd ruck in there somewhere.

Like it.

They took Buddy, JK3 and McGlynn for nothing, surely it's about time Sydney returned the favour...
